Basically, bottles that you use if you don't reuse the same disposable bottle over and over and over again, which is actually bad for the water (not necessarily that bad for you):

This is what I use, the one on the left. Keeps most of the pulp from overwhelming the water, is a very easy to clean and comfortable to hold bottle with one of those carabiner loops on the lid and is sealed twice.

For a jillion years I used a Mexican Coke bottle at work for refilling at the water cooler. Then I got a job at a place that never cleans their water coolers. :cryblood:

i just use a pair of those 1 liter bottles of this design:

The plastic is pretty durable. When full, I've had them fall like 2-3 meters against solid rock and only get surface scratches. They have an iodine taste to the water because I used them with purification tablets a few times when hiking/camping, and the taste never comes out no matter how many times I wash them

I have three main water bottles I use plus a camelbak reservoir that I don't really use because it's a pain in the ass to get into my backpack.

KleanKanteen40.jpg

My favorite is probably the Klean Kanteen. Compared to the Nalgene I have it's a lot lighter, and I find it affects the taste of the water the least, plus it keeps it slightly cooler. On the down side, it dents somewhat easily. Not huge dents that make it unusable, but noticeable dents. It's also made in China. In terms of leeching chemicals into the water that will give me cancer or turn me into a he-she the envy of every troon, I estimate it's a medium. Again, it's made in China, but it doesn't have a coating like Chinese-made cookware does, plus by virtue of being metal light doesn't shine through it.

I have a standard Nalgene, it's pretty meh. It gets the job done, doesn't dent, and is made in USA, but it scratches easily, imparts a small taste to the water, and is somewhat heavy. It will probably last for years, but I don't know if I would keep drinking out of it for its entire lifetime. They got rid of the BPA in these, but who knows what else it leeches, and since I think all Nalgenes are transparent the UV can just go to town.

The last one I have is a Playtpus Softbottle. I really like how lightweight and flexible these are, you can stuff them into corners and around things if you're carrying a lot, or roll them up when they're empty. The one I have is made in USA, but some are made in Indonesia, so be careful. On the downside, it's not very durable, I've only had mine for 6 months and it's starting to peel apart. I think this one is the one slowly poisoning me the most, since it's a soft transparent plastic. I really wouldn't leave these in the sun for any amount of time, or use them much past a year.

I picked up a cheap vacuum bottle from Aldi about a month ago. I like it because you can put cold water in it at bedtime, and it'll stay cold all night into the morning. It also doesn't dribble condensation.

I have expensive ones, and I buy weird cheap shit from thrift stores. My favorite looks like a bowling pin.
I'll usually carry protein shakes in slightly used big ass pickle jars so I don't feel bad about getting them broken on a rush hour train home.
