#Cartoonsgate - /co/ and YouTube celebs try to start a fancy new revolt

I couldn't find a relevant thread or this posted on it's own anywhere. YouTuber EZ PZ does a Jeremy Hambly style "A super legit insider told me all this dirt you guys" expose on cartoons and Cartoon Network specifically, mentioning how the network is aware their (((woke))) material bombs and arranges airings to try and make it look like Stephen Universe doesn't have bad ratings, gay material is constantly "hidden away" until the last possible second so they can't get it out in time, and how SJWs routinely send cabals of true believers to purge those unwilling to conform.

The usual revolt shit.

The video has found its way constantly a̶s̶t̶r̶o̶t̶u̶r̶f̶e̶d̶ posted onto /co/ where it is been poked apart by obvious SJW shills on the board. Specifically, over accusations over a few key details being incorrect (a detail about a fan character being stolen from an autstic kid is brought up as one of the major points, only to be corrected in the description box as "maybe wrong" after the fact and admitted it was a rumor he knew of), and the fact that this mysterious informant may have been a man by the name of Luke Weber, a former SU and Gravity Falls employee who has allegedly been blacklisted, though rumored to be because of his embarrassing and creepy behavior in the workplace instead of a brave refusal to kowtow to the social justice juggernaut. Up to and including drawing himself in a romantic relationship with a SU character.

It feels like everyone loses in this scenario:
- Luke loses because he got outed for being a whiny bitch
- EZ PZ/@oddish loses because not only did he made a video that /co/ hates because they're whiny bitches who also hate that he's an ED mod. But got his info from someone known for being an idiot by the industry and /co/ alike.
- /co/ loses because everyone else gets to make fun of their stupidity.
- CN also loses because regardless of Luke being an asshole, they still have some pretty damn low standards with their artists.

I'm studing to become animator and worked on some simple projects part-time. I'm also animation enthusiast, like many of you've seen. I'm not in any way part of industry (I live in Europe).
I think this is the last thing we need.
I watched linked video and it's 90% conspiracy theories and rumors about some leading animators private lives. People are really overreacting.
There ARE problems in animation industry, but when people are screaming "Cal Arts conspiracy!", "They are all sexual perverts", "SJWs in animation are like evil cult!" nobody will listen to them. And when people will point out serious issues, because of videos like this, they will not be treated seriously.
Example - next to "Alex Hirsh fucked everybody and they are all evil" insanity in this video - there is also proven info about Woman in Animation organization actually treating female animator pretty shitty. But this was lost in all crazy rumors.

Yes, so-called Cal-Arts style is widespread and can be irritating to people. Too many unnecessary reboots also can be irritating. You can complain about it. It's also quite obvious most artists are into progressive politics and other heavy left-leaning stuff. You can dislike this and see dangers of too-homogenous thinking among them and how it can manifest in cartoons they are working on. You can dislike how media are describing older fans of She-Ra or how Thundercats Roar controversy was used.
I also dislike it.
But your logical concerns wan't be treated seriously if you are an overreacting ass.
I don't see a difference between this and "if you dislike Thundercats Roar you are blinded by nostalgia and you are attacking industry" reactions.

I like those Luke Weber sketches (when you forget it's him paired with cartoon character...). Nice style. Too bad he is probably a creep.

It's really just two groups of autistic adults who love childrens cartoons desperately trying to make that sound like a worthwhile way for an adult human to spend their life.

I don't think indoctrinating kids with cartoons really works, anyway. All the 80s and 90s kids grew up watching super cool, non-woke cartoons, and we still got a generation of SJWs, antifa and brony troons.

It's the same as "video games/anime make kids brutal" or "this is secretly satanic" only 15 years later.
But now it's "children media MUST be diverse and we are changing the world by putting gay kiss in the background" and "oh no, SJWs are indoctinating children".
Cartoons are adventures and pretty moving drawings. Fun characters. Things to talk about with friends. Can inspire you to draw.
People really overstimate fictional media's influence.

Bad things do happen in the animation industry. There are many stories of people in the industry who have been abused, treated horribly, I could go on. And yes, these things ought to be confronted.

But when you have people who make videos about how everybody in the cartoon industry got AIDS 'n' shit and Alex Hirsch shits in the trashcan, this does not help. In fact, shit like this may make the problems worse.

(All things considered, though, I wouldn't have minded a Cartoongate springing up. It would easily have been the most autistic of the recent -gates. There'd be like a dozen people trying to make their own Growing Arounds.)

Why does when any from of controversy comes up it just gets the suffix -gate now of days is beyond me but honestly this has to be dumbest reason to start one .

There will always be people for some reason see something as "demonic" or "problematic" is usually because they either very misinform or they want to gain something from it.

If it helps I'm not sure PZ or any of the /co/fags are actually calling it that, I was using it sarcastically specifically because of its overuse.

That said, give it a month and watch it actually get it's on KiA spin-off Reddit board and treated as a legit thing.

This dude sums it up pretty well, it went from Watergate (the Nixon scandal involving the hotel of the same name) to a satire peice in national lampoon involving a similiar scandal in Russia (volgagate) to Nixons ex speech writer tacking it on to his peices for the NYT to diminish Watergate and tarnish his political enemies.
