By the connotation of the film, you would probably think it is inspired by the BlueSpike saga. The dude drives to Michigan only to expect to find no one. It doesn't really look like a good movie anyway, but I think Chris would get all preachy about it in a Facebook Note if someone showed it to him.

Well, if you are a devote Christorian, I see why you would think this is the case, but I am pretty sure it's not. This movies is just trying to cash in on the newfound awareness of this type of thing, and Chris isn't the most famous example of it.

Slightly Off Topic but I still think the movie was faked. I just think it was way too coincidental to be legitimate. I mean filming the relationship from the start and it becomes this mystery with fake personalities? I call shenanigans. Also hated how it was shown in previews. They sold it like a horror movie but it's a fat redneck with a mentally disabled kid??? That's the surprise? Bullshit.

This. The woman was legit and trying to trick people but the guys knew from the beginning she was lying and realized it'd make an interesting film. When they'd catch her lying they'd barely confront her about it because they were afraid she'd freak out and break off contact.

most of his "sweetheart sagas" are forms of catfishing. although, it never got to the "in person" meetup that the show likes to sensationalize. i mean you could say that actually his was just straight up trolling and not some machinations of a lonely person pretending to be someone else. so it's kind of a yes and no situation regarding chris. i have always wondered what it would be like if the show existed during the height of his trollings. so it may even be a "what if"

Could be a real movie. Catfishing was big in the news a while back when some football player or something admitted he was catfished. I recall a bunch of news outlets talked about the evils of trolling and cyber-bullying for a week or two.

And yes, I think Chris would promote this movie way more than he rambled on about that one about Cyber-bullying.
