I've been wondering - how 'reactive' was he towards the other people in the restaurant? He sounds fine enough with the waitress, but I get the impression he was merely tolerating everyone else.

The only thing Chris is interested in is to know if she's willing to be casted for the role of fuckmommy and Crystal-dispenser that Godbear has set up for her. Everything else aside from that is condensed to "You're so sweet and caring!".

I was trying very hard to not roll my eyes or grin, and to keep a poker face. I thought it was hilariously ironic at the time that Chris brought that up.

I find it odd how few questions Chris has for Catie. After all this is his wife and mother to be.

Chris probably didn't care much about Catie as a person. I think that Chris was just happy that someone had come along to be his caretaker/fuckmommy, although Chris, with his ego, probably thought of Catie as more of a personal servant/ piece of property of his than as an actual other human being with thoughts, interests, and emotions.

Chris has a very concrete, fixed idea of what the role of a sweetheart is, and what they and the relationship are going to be like. Chris views a sweetheart coming along as simply a person to fill a role, much like a peg fitting right into a hole and filling it.

Chris's line of thought is simply, "I'm lonely. Where's my sweetheart to fufill my dream of having my daughter christal? Hey, Catie's here! Now we'll live happily ever after! Yay!".

Chris doesn't have an adult view of relationships, or of life in general. Chris isn't thinking of the details because he's not aware of them, he's not thinking like an adult does about relationships. Chris doesn't understand or appreciate just how big a deal marriage is, or how complex relationships can be.

Chris has a very simple, idyllic, and pure idea of what love is, he expects a sweetheart to come along some day out of the blue and sweep him off his feet. He's just waiting for it to happen. His mindset about love is that of a small girl who's read too many fairy tales, it doesn't have much depth and isn't realistic.

Also, Chris wants Catie to marry him so that she'll take care of him and so that he can sex her. Chris is probably just trying to assure Catie and Al that the marriage will work and that he has something to offer Catie, something to bring to the table too, so to speak. Chris is telling Catie what he thinks she wants to hear.

For all his stupidity, Chris is an expert at lying when it's convenient for himself, avoiding the issue, glossing over things, and ignoring potential problems when they come up in conversation. Chris probably learned those habits from his parents.

In response to chris being a pro glosser/liar it was interesting to see how quickly he veered off the Robert bell topic.

He didn't approve of Rob bell because he wasn't on the conspiracy side of the story and he was called an "adult autistic child"

Wow, he actually tried to change the subject after claiming Snyder hurt himself. The only other time I heard him show as much apprehension during this conversation is when he was later asked about the theoretical girlfriends and what that meant. They're events where the mental gymnastics are so twisted that even trying to give a quick explanation seems to tax him.
