I couldn't find a thread on the guy or the nuttery that is The Young Turks, and I try to avoid one-off lolcow posts, but I think you guys might enjoy this one, given that it's particularly humorous, in the way that your average Chris video is, that magic blend of uncomfortable cringe and complete lack of self-awareness.

For the uninitiated, The Young Turks are a leftist Youtube show. They weren't always insane, which led to them becoming fairly popular back in the day. When Social Justice started to rise to prominence, however, they ran forward on that shit with a brick on the accelerator and a tube on the exhaust pipe, alienating almost their entire original audience. They're really a great example of how quick shit went downhill because of that trend, but that's a discussion for another day and thread.

I don't really think TYT has enough content to be worth an in-depth analysis piece or the like, but sometimes, something bursts up from the surface and glitters in the sun like an Autistic breaching whale and you need to share that shit because it's fucking hilarious.

It all starts with TYT's coverage of the San Bernardino shooting. This is before the knowledge that the shooters were involved with ISIS came to light, just FYI. Then, at 2:50, Cenk Ugyur proceeds to utterly lose his shit for a little over four minutes.

I had to stop repeatedly to pause the video because I couldn't stop fucking laughing, and then I proceeded to extract it and add music, because I found that looping a certain song in the background made it that much funnier. Enjoy:

To be clear: The problem is not the core argument he's made (the need for gun control and the usual hand-wringing after a tragedy by the NRA, which even people on the right have called out by now); it's the fact that he basically came at this issue all sturm and drang, and, much as many in the media did, assumed it was white people (HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST IT WAS SYRIA) when, of course, it turned out to be a pair of ISIS Militants - and this was only a few hours later. Poor timing on poor Cenk's part. This paired with how loud and emphatic he was just turned the entire thing into comic gold.

The progression happened pretty subtly, but the exact moment TYT went and started to get like this can be tied to the nanosecond identity politics started to become a show staple. Just one more example of the all-singing, all-dancing shit-show that is Social Justice. Just the same way you saw the likes of DailyKos and the like move from simple democratic site to complete nutbar land (a line of demarcation I generally define as being when Margaret Pless came to the site), TYT decided it was going to be ahead of the trend, hired multiple Social Justice ideologues and within a year was screaming about preferred pronouns and how whitey is responsible for everything.

Credit where credit's due, at least they gave us something to mock.

So a while ago, I brought up that some in Social Justice were on the opposite political stripe at some point. Jonathan McIntosh used to be an Infowars poster; Brianna Wu worked for Trent Lott, and so on. Today, I learned of another and far more obvious example, as Cenk apparently used to be a conservative commentator years ago, proving the ongoing truism that douchebaggery knows no political affiliation correct.

Just a bit of an interesting observation really. Rest assured, if I find more Cenk stupidity, I'll bring it here, Kiwis.
