Sustained Denial of Service attacks. Paid for botnet. Service will continue to be disrupted until I can contact other providers and arrange a fix. It's because the anatomy makes no sense. It's one thing to have centaurs in mythology, but they have no place in an SF setting. For one obvious thing, there's no way the digestive system works. Plus you couldn't even eat enough with a human mouth and stomach to feed that whole body. Similarly, a set of human lungs wouldn't oxygenate your blood. I know, who cares, they're so fucked up in every other way, but they're just stupid.

"I'm feeling frustrated and angry with myself. Between the expenses of moving house, replacing a phone, repairing a computer, lower than anticipated sales at Anthrocon, and diminishing returns on my online book sales, I've ended up in a financial hole. However, the thing that really steams me is that I screwed up my budget. I made a stupid error and only now have I found out that my debts and expenses are exceeding my income. I've over-indulged in illustrations for my stories, and now that's also come back to bite me.
It's not all bad news though. Due to some generous help from a couple of people, I'll be able to keep my head above water for a while longer. I don't know if they would want me to post their names, but I do wish to publicly express my profound gratitude for helping me out.
So what are the consequences? No more art unless it is sponsored. No more costly projects after this weekend. I'll probably have to cancel plans to go to a convention in Sydney - not sure of that one as yet. The big one though is plans for next year's trip to America. I really don't know if I will be able to afford it despite the fact that I've earned enough Frequent Flyer points for a round trip to Los Angeles. There are still fees and taxes that add up to more than $800, and I would still have to look at getting interstate. Seems like I might be a stay-at-home for the foreseeable future.

After several weeks of going to the dentist and getting extractions, fillings, a crown, and fittings, I finally got a new denture on Friday, and I can bite and chew again at last. I celebrated by eating the chewiest and crunchiest things that I could find. It was wonderful. I am still getting used to the dang thing, and I'll be paying off the dentist bills for quite a while, but in the end it will be worth it. Gone is a persistent ache in the jaw, and tooth sensitivity, and I have at last an intact smile. Just in time for Anthrocon too. See my smiling face there!

Going to a furry convention is the definition of a want and not a need. If he is dependent on "sales" the furry con in Sydney is quoted at 120~140 attendees https://en.wikifur.com/wiki/FurJAM and for comparison Anthrocon is ~7,500 attendees https://en.wikifur.com/wiki/List_of_conventions_by_attendance . The Los Angeles area furry convention peaked at 1451 https://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Califur . With fractions of the attendance of Anthrocon these places aren't going to generate good cash flow. Hopefully he takes his own advice and just stops spending on personal luxuries and focuses on necessities.

There's two pretty dangerous corners in furry I've defined and he's running straight into both of them: First, I call 'No Fandom for Old Men'. Furry has always been pretty youth-oriented (people often 'get out' around 30), and the 'scene' has been in a slide away from the Sci-Fi based structure of old and into... Whatever the hell it's becoming. So guys Doove's age are in a weird place: Few peers and a world around them that's changing out of recognition.
The other is the concept of bought social status. A lot of people either go full art whore or spend a bunch of money 'providing services to the community', and overextend themselves. These people are left in the lurch when the cash runs out and they find that all those people that flocked around them when they were a money/studio space/equipment dispenser just *disappear* when the gravy train stops. Doove's extensive 'book illustration' budget expenditure might well qualify there.
