Origins: 1982-1984

In the early 80s, on a radio show in Germany called Music for Young People run by British born DJ and Musician Paul Baskerville played this song.

The radio show played unknown and underground music. All of the music Paul Baskerville bought for the show was from a shop called Under Average. The majority of music in the shop came from England, Mainly Manchester. Nobody was curious about the song until 2007.

Bluuue's Search For the Song: 2007

Bluuue, a user of the forum The Spirit of Radio, posted about a song he was looking for since 1984. They posted a short mp3 version song. The investigation didn't go anywhere until July of 2019.

Gabriel Vieira/gabgaskins search for the song: 2019-Present

A Redditor named Gabgaskins or Gabriel Vieira Made the following post on many subreddits about his investigation:

"Hello, I had the idea to come to tell this story to you, after YEARS looking for this song and asking for help in forums.

This started in 2006, several people posted in 80's forums asking if anyone knew this song (unfortunately I do not know where it started), but nobody could identify. At that time, it was common for many people to ask in forums about unknown songs, even because it was a time when many still used cassette tapes, especially tapes from decades ago. Many of these songs were discovered after a while, but only this has never been discovered, not even a piece of information. No one knows the band that sings this song, no one knows what country the band is, no one knows what year it is (certainly the '80s), and unfortunately, the full song has never been released.

But one thing is certain: if this song is here on the internet, it's because someone put it here. I've been looking for it for over 10 years, and so far I've never found any information about it. Many people are still looking for it, there are some uploads of that song on YouTube. Can anyone here unravel this mystery or make a guess?"

This led to the formation of the subreddit, r/themysterioussong. A month went by with not a whole lot leads but a full version of the song.

If you have anything to add that can help figure the band and the name of the song, please post said info in this thread.

Here are my interpretations of the song's lyrics.
[Verse 1]
Fly the Wind,
You Came Here Runnin',
Take the Consequences of Leavin'.

There's No Space,
There's No Tomorrow,
There's no Sense for New Divisions.

[Chorus]
Check It In, Check It Out,
Or the Sun Will Never Shine.
There's a long dirty way,
In the subways of your mind.

[Verse 2]
Fly the Wind,
Your Gonna Somewhere,
Let a smile be your companion.

There's No Place,
There's No Sorrow,
Here in the Young and Restless Dreamer.

[Chorus]
Check It In, Check It Out,
Or the Sun Will Never Shine.
There's a long dirty way,
In the subways of your mind.

[Bridge]

[Chorus]
Check It In, Check It Out,
Or the Sun Will Never Shine.
There's a long dirty way,
In the subways of your mind.

[Outro]
Check It In, Check It Out,
It's the Summer Blues,
Tear It In, Tear In Out
It's the Real You
Check It In, Check It Out,
It's the Summer Blues,
Tear It In, Tear In Out
It's the Real You
Check It In, Check It Out,
It's the Summer Blues,
Tear It In, Tear In Out
It's the Real You
Check It In, Check It Out,
It's the Summer Blues,
Tear It In, Tear In Out
It's the Real You
Check It In, Check It Out,
It's the Summer Blues,
Tear It In, Tear In Out
It's the Real You

Reminds me of the hunt for the obscure song that was charted on billboard back in the late 70s, but never popped up again until someone actually noticed said song

Another song called Strangers by The Sinking Ships that had the same notes for the rhythm guitar in this song.
(Note: Listen to The Sinking Ships earlier work before there 2000s work. There 2000s work in it sounds like (to me) emo songs.)

Oh good, I was wondering if there was ever gonna be a thread about this song here.

Yeah there's dozens of leads to follow, and the more we tug the string, the stranger the investigation becomes
