I just want guys like Bradley to get the city they want. NYC violent crime rose dramatically in 2020 despite an overall decrease in crime and 2021 is showing a dramatic increase over that. Precincts are reporting massive manpower shortages of up to 50% and detectives are being pressed into service as beat cops. It isn't approaching the crime ridden hellhole levels of the 70s, 80s, and early 90s yet, but a nationwide campaign of race riots combined with an economic downturn helped kick those decades of turmoil off. We don't even have the manufacturing jobs to send overseas this time around and fent is going to be every bit as bad as crack was if it isn't already. Slash the police budget for a bunch of community projects, I'm sure it will work out. NYC isn't broke like it was back then, but I'm optimistic that politicians like de Blasio can lead their way back.
This means serious crimes not getting solved. Also those cops are going to fucking quit, either just retire early or move somewhere that isn't inevitably turning into something out of Death Wish.
