They are looking at water measurements directly and with a shitload of rain on the way for the next few weeks i dont see how it survives.
Also i saw an extremely disturbing video of water gushing from the ground when a hole is poked. If thats true they have some really big fucking problems with soil liquefaction

You can look at the casualty figures and compare them to other hypothetical disasters, like a Yellowstone eruption. The problem with this is the USA didn't create Yellowstone. The CCP was told for decades that building the Three Gorges Dam here would be a disastrous idea that would cause untold misery for millions, but built it anyway. They caused this, and now they're getting fucked because of it. I cannot feel bad, because they knew the risks.
It's why I scoff whenever someone talks about how the CCP is planning for the long game and thinking ahead hundreds of years. Sure they may plan out these grand infrastructure projects, but there is no regard for how said project will turn it's surroundings into an unlivable shithole. No one in the party ever asks if any project is being built up to code or if their suppliers are knowingly giving them inferior building materials. They never do any of this, because that would require working in the present to address problems rather than "the Reich will last a thousand years" posting.
I cannot feel sorry for them, because they created their own demise.

At last a thread on this. Right now the number to watch is the height of the Three Gorges reservoir. Up until this week they were keeping that level low but letting Wuhan flood. Now they are trying to relieve Wuhan and put the pressure on the dam, but Wuhan isn't going down at all, or very slowly, and the reservoir is rapidly filling up.
That whole area is on a couple of fault lines too. Imagine the rain and/or a quake sending a big landslide into that almost full body of water.
If it goes it’ll be biblical level stuff. The political fallout will be immense as well. Could be one of those events that changes history. Or it could just be another time China killed a few tens of millions and told everyone to look away...
Chinese have shown with Covid19 that this isnt the 1970s and that loudspeakers on pickup trucks blaring shitty propaganda wont work. The people were absolutely furious with the government response

I don't know if they could hide TGD going even if they wanted to. The dam held back so much water, it supposedly slowed Earth's rotation. A collapse would likely register on seismographs all over the region. Not to mention, China's breadbasket would be flooded. You've also got Singapore in the way. The CCP will probably have their hands too full to deal with narrative control.

That exact scenario happened with the Vajont Dam in Italy in the 1960s, the landslide triggered an 820 foot tall megatsunami that easily overtopped the dam and just fucking deleted a bunch of villages below the dam, leaving an impact crater 200ft deep, this would make that shit look like child's play.
It is very much a sign of the times that this situation in china is not in the news. It will take 100's of millions possibly dead for it to be sensation enough to grace the pages of MSM. If this was happening in africa they would be all over it and if there was a country full of troons, and there was a light drizzle, they would be all over it. The media doesn't care when this shit happens in Africa, it gets a brief mention in the news and that's it. The media only cares when millions of Africans are starving in yet another famine, dying in some pandemic, or chopping each other up in a bloodier-than-normal civil war.
It’s not just one dam either is it? Aren’t there a chain of smaller ones along the river? Anything upstream failing Or even topping over from a landslide for a bit would start it off.
