We all know that most of our info and updates are now coming from Chris' Facebook. I found myself thinking that this is a reasonably unique situation; previously, Chris was receiving feedback mostly via email or Youtube comments, mostly regarding things he'd had to at least put some kind of effort into, and mostly coming from strangers. In addition, a lot of people offered false praise or encouragement to try and encourage more hilarious content. But Facebook is different; Chris can impulsively post whatever comes into his thick head, and is receiving responses quickly from people he himself has friended and (in some cases) knows in real life. Sure, some of these are white knights like Watermelon and Anna, but he's also getting a lot of people telling him, maybe for the first time, that he's being unreasonable and his behaviour is unacceptable. My question is, do you think this might cause any kind of change in Chris' life?

I'm always wondering why his settings aren't more (if not totally) private. Some of that stuff should only be seen by people he considers real friends, some is mundane and harmless, and some is appropriate for public consumption. He just can't figure out what the balance should be. Someone in a such a position should maybe just make everything private when they can't get any of it right. Then, every couple of months, a complete dump of everything he only shared with "friends" gets released to the public... *sigh*

Chris and 'should' have never been on very good terms.

I'm betting he can't figure out how to change the settings.

Facebook is interesting because it works a lot more like Chris believed youtube worked. on Facebook, simply mentioning someone by name absolutely gets their attention. (until they block you of course)

As far as people's comments potentially affecting him? No. Nothing anyone says gets through to Chris if it exceeds his hurtful-truth level. His ego is like this semipermeable membrane that allows asspats in while shedding criticism as efficiently as a duck's ass sheds water. Regardless of the format, he is about as "advice-proof" as a person can possibly be.

in b4 lock!! Yeah!

Internet has ALWAYS been a bad influence in Chris life, a tool that further shield him from social interaction that he actually needs. You all should know this by now but as long as he keeps been a "basement dweller" hes gonna keep being a very awkward creep instead a reasonably awkward one.

And he is so incredible stooped not to understand that the only way to finally kill his trolls is to get the fuck off the internet in any and all forms forevar, but he craves any kind of attention, he is indeed a attention whore.

Facebook is probably the only social interaction he gets these days. Unfortunately, despite how much he craves social interaction, he's also incapable of handling social interaction.

If anything, it will only make things worse, either by his own hand, or because the asspatters keep wipping his ass, either way, is not facebook's fault, is chris fault, because he's digging deeper and deeper in his dirthole.

I said nothing, because Facebook isn't going to do anything that YouTube, DA, the Adult Swim forums, MySpace, Hook, OKCupid, Trolling Train, Tomboys of Virginia, and IRC #sonichu hasn't already done.

There's no way it could possibly help him, because it's too easy to not only ignore, but possibly (in Chris's case) not even be able to find helpful feedback from well meaning people. He only friends the ass lickers (with a few odd exceptions...not sure why he's letting Oneeyed whatever continue to abuse him now), and messages from anyone else likely go straight to the "Other" box, which can at first be tricky for regular people to find, much less slow-in-da-minds.

They way Chris is now, probably nothing will change.

I would be surprised if it somehow got worse. But I ain't holding my breath.

He's still be going downhill no matter what at this point, but Facebook is like a lubricant of sorts, speeding up the process.

I chose Nothing, and that has been true to an extent for the last few years he has had Facebook, though we have seen negative outcomes through it as well so far, such as making himself look spiteful and crazy to his former school mates, a lot of them ignoring him.

One of the best things anyone could have done for Chris would have been to permanently and definitively cut down his internet, Facebook inclusive.
