Chris only goes outside just for McDonalds or the mall.

But I wonder whether he finds other weird ways to exercise outside.

Why would someone with the I.Q of a child ever leave a room full of toys and videogames? Chris' tugboat has bought him a utopia. A dark, foul-smelling and possibly damp utopia that is.

At one point I was probably leaving home less often than Chris. Mostly around the ages of 16 - 18, the early years of my NEET saga. Of course I still made sure I got out of the house a few hours a week to avoid becoming a total shut-in. Depression does that to you.

Wow, this made me guilty for not going outside, but I just have some pretty bad seasonal allergies that keep me indoors through the Spring and Summer. Medication doesn't help me, really. I don't know if Chrs suffers from seasonal allergies or if he has any reason to go outside.

However, he can agree that pretty much everything about his lifestyle is unhealthy.

Yeah, I'm feeling kind of guilty about not going outside as often as I should. The first snow is going to hit here soon (I'm in the Alaskan interior) and I should have made a more concentrated effort to enjoy what summer we did have.

I should be going outside more, too. I have two more months before it starts to get wet, dark and cold again, and really fall is the nicest season in Ohio.

When I went camping for a week I felt a lot better with the fresh air and sunshine. Chris would feel better if he went outside and enjoyed McIntire Park more. And like someone said, the part of Virginia Chris lives in has some of the prettiest scenery in that part of the country. It's a shame he doesn't get to enjoy it more.

Well, he did take a hike once . . .

. . . and quickly ran out of breath going up a "mountain." *sigh*

It was the first thing that sprang to mind when I read the topic, I was giggling like a schoolgirl back on the Mary thread when these were doing the rounds.

I too do not go outside as often as I should, but my job keeps me on my feet all day and is exercise into itself as I move around and lift 30-40 pounds at a time, so i am still fairly active, and at home I spend plenty of time writing. I am sensitive to the sun (both eyes and skin because I am a soulless ginger) so I do not have much incentive to spend a lot of time outside, but I do genuinely enjoy walks and hikes, and I don't get out of breath like Chris does. I can walk around for several hours and feel dandy, in fact, even with sore feet after a long walk/hike, i feel GOOD.

I wonder when was the last time Barb saw any sunlight or left the house, if Chris goes outside so infrequently as is, imagine how much less Barb gets.

Hell, Barb probably convinced him that all da twolls live on da sun, and if he spends too much time in the sunlight they'll swoop down and drag him into space.

Do you think he still has any hope with his health or is he pretty much done? What do you guys think?

This is really two questions:

Is Chris too far gone physically to have any hope at a healthy life?
Of course he isn't. There's always hope. Chris is human and the human body can recover from some pretty terrible abuse, even abuse that's lasted for decades. He's probably not going to be a pro athlete, but that wasn't ever going to happen anyway. He's got obvious weight issues and he gets very little exercise. He lives in a dumpster, and to be completely honest, his current lack of freedom and privacy coupled with loneliness and extreme paranoia can actually have a pretty devastating impact on a person physically. Stress isn't good.

Will he ever do the things he'd need to do to change any of that?
Probably not.

so my answer is "yes, but no."

Chris is a guy who thinks that occasionally swapping out his usual disgusting grease-soaked shit for a salad or chicken wrap at McD's counts as healthy eating. The amount of work, and even more importantly personal restraint it would take him to get his physical health under control would be too much for most normal fatties, much less Chris. With apologies to the Hulkster, I'm not sure even he could whip Chris into shape at this point, unless they start making Big Mac-flavored vitamins.

Yeah, but mostly I have- mostly I eat like Healthy Choice- I- mostly I would eat Healthy- it, uh- of the frozen dinner varieties, I would eat Healthy Choice.

Does Chris really thinks that once McDonalds says that the food is healthy then it is 100% healthy?

Why would McDonald's lie? After all, they give out FREE FOOD with their Monopoly game pieces. They have nothing to hide or lose. So when they say it's healthy, it's healthy. Never mind the fact that eating a hamburger is probably healthier than their salads.

This has raised an interesting thought for me. Lack of Vitamin D can cause depression, hence winter blues and such. We know Chris does not get out much, I imagine he does not simply hang outside, he prefers hanging inside McD's, etc) and we don't know if he takes vitamin pills. He might be actually depressed, but he of course does not acknowledge this, and his depression magnifies his shitty attitude.

He'd have to have an even poorer diet than previously imagined to be deficient in Vitamin D, considering that milk is fortified with it.

... oh, right. Milk.

Does Chris drink milk, though? We know he drinks sodas and sweet tea, has he talked about drinking milk? if he has, I don't know. And I doubt he has it at home, as the kitchen is pretty much inaccessible?

If Chris has any milk in the hoard it's probably cheese by now.
