Chris and his old Haiti picture -

You know, I was checking through the CWCki today, planning to reread some of the old sonichu character pages for my amusement while I ate when I came across a page full of old wallflower emails that I don't think I read before. So, I gave some of them a little read, amused by some of the things he said, as well as what he did (Such as once again spoiling future events in the Sonichu comic, proving once again he has no idea how to keep things a surprise), and then I came across a mention of his Haiti picture.

In one of his emails to the wallflower, he mentioned how he showed his support for the people of Haiti with a drawing he did. But, from what I recall, a fair bit before he did the picture, Alec had a bunch of ads on Chris's wiki showing his support for Haiti. It was only after these popped up that, in a short time that I cannot recall how long, he decided to show his support for the people of Haiti with a big picture he drew featuring Sonichu and friends helping to rebuild Haiti. To me, it didn't really seem that he cared about what was happening in Haiti at the time at all. It was only after Alec did it that he decided to do a little "supporting" of his own. I think it was more to keep up with his most-hated rival at the time than it was to show how much he cared for a bunch of third-world "darkies" who's homeland got shook up pretty badly. Otherwise, he would not have bothered at all to make that picture.

Not to downplay anybody's good will at the time, but I think "Helping Haiti" became a trend in some peoples' eyes. I know at my school at the time, there was a student-run charity concert, where all the proceeds would go to Haiti. While a majority were there with all intents and purposes to help, there was still a group of kids who came in because it was what everyone else was doing and because it was "cool."

I feel like this is what happened with Chris. He saw Alec doing it, and maybe he scorned the idea at first. But then he actually looked around him for a moment and probably realized that more people than just Alec were doing this so-called "Help for Haiti." He may have seen this as a chance to be a part of something relevant and maybe possibly to get some brownie points with da ladies.

Well, it fits right in with his upbringing on 90s educational cartoons. "Help Haiti" for Chris is just another slogan, like his own copyrighted creation, STAY STRAIGHT. I also remember his Future Message video, when he said "school is not a torture, stay in school!" and other cliches like that.

It's probably just a part of his obsession with pop culture. It was in the news a lot so even people like Chris knew what was happening.

It's like what he said about gay marriage a few weeks ago. It's been an issue since at least the 2004 presidential election but because the cable news networks have been talking about it so much recently that Chris decided to say something.

And yes, I wonder if Chris can locate Haiti on a map.

I wonder what Chris's response was to the Japan earthquake in 2011, and if he thought his favorite anime series were going to be interrupted. I think that was a silent period in Chris's life, so we don't know what he said.
