I don't really think Rocky helped Chris. Maybe she thought she was helping him, but her advice seemed to basically be "ignore the bad things people say about you and don't go online." Chris doesn't completely avoid the internet, and "ignore bad things" basically means "avoid everything that causes stress and involves change". If Rocky really helped Chris she would have gotten him off his lazy ass and into a program that helps people with autism and proper psychiatric help. Both of those would allow him to get a job and become properly independent, maybe even his own little apartment. Instead she did the same thing Bob and Barb did, and basically told him he's never at fault, he doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to, and sex outside of marriage is fine as long as he loves the person.

There comes a point where even Rocky has to tell Chris he isn't always right and that point surely has come time and again considering the amount of trouble Chris has found himself in these last couple years. Rocky's no doubt done everything she can to keep Chris from blowing a gasket, while Chris has done everything he can to not be "bossed around". I honestly think Rocky would have dropped Chris years ago if she weren't afraid that he might go on a killing spree or something. People love to take on projects, but not when their project continuously fails to return results. I imagine she thinks that if she doesn't keep an eye on Chris, he'll be the next mall shooter to grace the papers, and she'll feel guilty about it.

Chris doesn't recognise that he's a social pariah. His concrete understanding of church leads him to believe that they'll back anyone who is a member of the congregation 'till the very end or that by their very nature they should coddle him and throw friends in his general direction. While plenty of churches do try to get everyone involved with each other and make a difference in each member's lives, you can't walk into a church feeling entitled to it - but Chris just can't be arsed to show a little humility.

I would love to know what kind of uninhibited Two Minutes Hate Chris was spewing that got him banned from the church's "Sharing of Joys and Concerns".

To Chris, you are only helping him if you just give him exactly what he wants. He doesn't want advice, he doesn't want assistance, he doesn't want suggestions on how to improve himself and he most certainly doesn't want to you to imply that things may be even slightly his fault.

In Chris' mind, you should be expending all available energy on improving his life for him. If you fail to do this, you are a bad person and he simply discards you.

The problem is that Rocky doesn't think Chris is going to go on a shooting spree. All Rocky does for Chris is give him constant ass-pats about how great of a guy he is and blah blah blah.

Chris can (and has, multiple times) come to Rocky with a genuine problem that anyone could recognize and give the tiniest bit of advice on what to do. And, as usual, she does nothing.

Rocky is not a professional and certainly no miracle worker. We're dealing with Chris here, there's only so much she (or anyone else can do). Giving Chris advice is one thing, having Chris listen and follow the advice is something completely different.
