Having Chris going over the Rockies in that dilapidated soccer mom van is almost on par with his magic vag Saga, I just wonder if he's clever enough to figure out that people are going to freak out about him doing this and therefore pool money together to keep him from dying.

I think people are biting at the chomp, myself included, for a little action after 2 years of almost nothing.
But the last thing that needs to happen is Chris ending up in jail or driving off a cliff.... Or dying of heat exposure.
Another thing he'll need to bring is plenty of water and sunscreen as it's in the triple digits currently in the Pacific Northwest.
Wouldn't this be one of the best ways to keep Chris under control for the trip?

From what I've gathered in the OP, Null implied that it was a solo trip, and that there would be some he trusted that was paid who would be in Seattle to meet Chris when he arrived; didn't mention squat about Barb whether she was staying or going with Chris.
I agree that Barb going with Chris to this con would be for the best. She's been bitching at Chris for leaving to cons and leaving her alone, at the same time chimping out if she doesn't answer his calls. The difference is, Barb was somewhat comfortable with Chris going to cons because they were relatively close. This one, not so much.
Barb should go if only to keep Chris in check.

Those stops aren't correct. The Empire Builder has two destinations from Chicago. Seattle and Portland. The route forks west of Spokane. Which is another thing that could get fucked up.
Barely anyone picks up hitchhikers anymore. This isn't the 70's. They are all homeless drifters and varying degrees of fucked up. No trucker will touch him.

If Chris attempts to make that trek by driving Sonchu he'll surely die. It's almost a 2 day drive (without stops), and he drives like an old woman. I for one, don't want to see that happen. He needs to outlive Barb so we could see the foreclosure/homeless saga.
This was a problem ever since commercial airlines were a thing. The fact that people are figuring this out (and spazzing out about it) just now is fucking baffling to me.
Besides, he's going to Seattle, whatever bug he could catch on a 6 hour flight with some random tourists is nothing compared to what he could catch walking around that cesspool of a city.
