"Con crud" is a thing at the best of times, any time you have people coming from all over the country to one place to be in the same place, they basically encounter bugs that weren't where they originated from. If they took a plane or some other public transport it's even worse because they were also potentially exposed to bugs from people from other countries in the airport and the plane itself, not just the originating airport and the endpoint, but any layover along the way too.

And it's tiring and somewhat stressful which also lowers immunity.

At least he probably isn't going to be fucking randos and drinking like a fish.
