Hey y'all! First-time poster here, but a long-time follower of Chris (I think I started following him shortly before the Liquid Saga).

Been mainly lurking the past month or so, but I've decided to finally cast a line and start my first topic.

Here's a question I've thrown around for a long time, but want to hear other people's thoughts: when Chris speaks of "talking" to his characters, do you think A) he is experiencing auditory hallucinations (i.e. they're actual "voices in his head") or B) it's his just awkward, unusual description/phrasing of him talking to what basically amounts to his imaginary friends?

Something to chew on, especially after his recent "discussions" with Megagi.

It's probably just an overactive imagination and the Megagi thing was just probably him trying to get at Megan by saying her own creation hated her existence. I don't think he thinks he was really talking to it if that means anything. Just trying to be hurtful and looked like a delusional dumbass in the process.

He's alone in a room full of toys and vidya with the only company being his ancient mother who probably sleeps most of the time. I'd be amazed if he didn't just make stuff up in his head to compensate for having no social life.

Agreed. I doubt he has actual hallucinations. He's just weird.

This is true. If you think about it, even the most neurotypical and sanest of people can eventually take on odd behaviors and thoughts (and sometimes outright become detached from reality) when stuck in social isolation for extended periods of time, e.g. people stuck in solitary confinement for long periods of time.

During his time in jail Chris pretended he was a genie with brown hair. This could be an example of of a schizophrenic personality but he knew he was Chris the whole time. He was playing make believe as a coping mechanism to deal with a situation out of his control. So, while he's engages in make-believe, I think he is perfectly capable of distinguishing reality from things that aren't real (even though he has a tenuous grip on it). His naivete doesn't factor into that thought though.

While he may believe they are imaginary, he thinks imaginary is real. I think he believes he is speaking to an entity separate from himself.

Pretty much he believes his imaginary friends sonichu and rosechu are in another dimension with toon town from roger rabbit. He also believes in that same dimension, he is the ruler of cwcville.

And while he's asleep, everyone in CWCville has gay sex.

And Chris thinks he has magi chan monitoring that shit, puleeze. Magi was probably mass debating to the citizens having gay sex.

I think Chris is in the same boat as the vast majority of bronies who insist they have real life pony waifus. They want to believe it and think if they present it others like that, it makes it more real. They know they're lying, they just like to pretend they aren't.

This can be also said for wizards and weebs who have anime waifus as well (and for fangirls idk, husbandfus or some shit). But point taken, they are the same.

Except that much like the dinosaur, Chris has a brain the size of a walnut. He's dumb enough to believe what he thinks up.

I think it's a combination of stupidity and partially autism that caused it. Some autistics can't distinguish reality from fantasy, but that's usually in the low functioning spectrum, Chris just has a lack of intelligence and common sense to comprehend that.

Nah if he said chris is so stupid I'm smarter than him, and I hope he gets raped, then it's :alog:

Makes sense, long ago I used to toy with the idea of Chris possibly having schizotypal personality disorder, but eventually realized that's a bit of a stretch. It's probably just his own awkward phrasing and an overactive imagination.

Yeah, I don't mean to condescend... wait... condensate... you GBM, but I've noticed at least twice a month, someone comes in here and thinks they've deduced Chris to have some kind of additional mental impairment or physical imparment, but more often than not (like 98% of the time) the fact is that it's just Chris being... Chris.

I doubt Chris sees or talks to imaginary critters when he's out and bout or at home. If anything, I bet at most he's acting out imaginary scenarios to keep himself preoccupied. I wouldn't be surprised if he does this in public as well, if only for the fact that his parents never bothered to tell him to act his age.

To be fair though, GBM realized this before and didn't do what a lot of newbies do By posting the thread coming up with this deduction about Chris' mental health. On a sidenote that should be a pro tip for the "Chris and psychology" page, not to come up with some disorder you think Chris has since none of us have enough personal contact with him to make these deductions.

Still, this is a good thread to discuss and speculate possibilities to chris' perrception on reality.

This bit I doubt as schizophrenia. Mainly being solo in a holding cell fucking sucks. I had a DUI a few years ago and after the initial time in a holding cell with others I was eventually left in one alone during transfer. Unless you're asleep it is boring as fuck. Eventually you just find ways to amuse yourself. If that was acting like a tard for Chris then whatever.
