As someone who had to deal with shitty depression off and on over the years, a big point of feeling terrible about myself was how little art I was making during these times, and how horrendously shitty they were. I'm still not super great, but just cranking out pictures and lined paper doodles (at least every other day) has done wonders for making me feel better. It's really boosted my self-esteem, even though I know there are a million places to improve in. I feel productive and like I'm improving every week.
Chris has a billion things wrong in his life, and I think that a fairly big one is the fact that he considers himself an artist and cartoonist, and when was the last time he drew something? Even something we don't know about. He probably feels like he's a broken machine because he should be making art (that's what he considers his "job" to be, right?) and isn't.
That and he could let out some steam making comics. And even inject wish fulfillment into them.
Of course, people liked him in the first place because he was making Sonichu, and people liked him best at his most productive. Everyone loved his sub-episode comics. I like his Lego creations.
Chris's life would improve a lot if he got back to being an artist like he's supposed to be, and since he'll be feeling better, he'll probably take better care of himself, smile more, have better hygeine, be friendlier and more sociable, and even get female attention.
just go with it
