Don't get me wrong it's really fun to rag on Chris. He's a fun punching bag. But why is it such a hot topic when something happens to cause him a moment of sunlight? How can people deny reports or even his first hand recounts of losing his virginity? Why do people get frothing mad when he somehow profits off his notoriety? Heck people even got upset that people helped him and his mother out when their house burned down. Not to mention Chris started to live as a woman even going so far to seek medication for his transition and yet people were really disturbed that he was doing what makes him happy.
Bottom line, Chris will always stumble somehow and we can laugh but why are there people out there who get mad in that tiny instance he's happy?

It makes me happy to see Chris happy, and knowing that there are people out there who legitimately get mad at his happiness only makes it sweeter to me. I think most people get these "rooting for the underdog" moments, and Chris has set himself up to fail so many times before that it's nice to see him do well for a change.

It helps that he is far more likable then the vast majority of his fellow lolcows, too. When Chris first rose to prominence, I could sort of understand why some people may have felt he's a bit of a douchebag. But we're in 2015 now and we've seen so many Lolcows who are way, way more nastier then Chris will ever be.

After I got to know Nick Bate, Marjan, the Sluthate people, ADF, Chris seems so innocent in comparison. So I wish him the best.

The amount of people who are at least passively trollshielding with Chris continues to surprise me. A lot of them seem to have very poor critical thinking skills - they'll read the CWCki, not understand the subtext, and think "at last I've found someone who will always be worse than me at everything!"

Then, when Chris turns out not to be this one-dimensional charicature written by people who may well have been trollshielding themselves, it confuses these trollshielders and knocks down a pillar of their fragile self-esteem.

The bigger thing that has kept me around for so long is how Chris expresses happiness.

No matter what, whether he was in 2009 era trolling or even 1994 shopping spree, Chris has always had the power of happiness.

Was he happy in the Ivy videos? Creepily, but yes.

Was he happy in the Julay videos? Ditto.

Was he happy drinking Long Island Ice Tea with Scarlett? Uh-huh!

I think people get mad about it because for whatever reason a lot of people online have a genuine hatred for Chris and anything that happens that's positive in his life is something he's undeserving of. Sometimes it can be because they're autistic themselves and he 'gives autistics like us a bad name' or even because since they knew Chris, being better than him was always a source of comfort. So when Chris is propelled into a better financial position or loses his virginity they feel some kind of bizarre jealousy that somebody like Chris is better off than they are while they stay broke virgins.

I find it confusing that a lot of people hate Chris to the extent they enjoy sperging about how they're going to violently beat him up in great detail. In the grand scheme of things, despite his flaws Chris isn't an utterly reprehensible person and I view being angry over his successes as a sign there's something wrong with the people getting angry, not Chris. It surprises me to know there's a few people on the Farms who despise Chris to that extent, you'd think once you'd been introduced to somebody truly horrible like Nick Bate you'd realise Chris isn't all that bad after all.

On topic - I think the Chris virginity thing is the perfect example of disappointed trollshielders. Let's be real - a subsection of this community are virgins-with-rage. From what I've seen of the "glory days" of Chris trolling, the VwR contingent was even more prominent back then. For a lot of people, it was comforting to watch Chris fail at his lovequest in a more public and embarrassing way than they failed at theirs. Chris would always be worse than them.

So when the Mia H.A.M. stuff got out, the cognitive dissonance and associated butthurt denialism it provoked was enormous - and hilarious.

We're accustomed to the usual lolcow cycle at this point: someone acts stupid on the internet, chimps out at trolls, maybe tries to vandalize their ED article or make an account here, and then either fades away or simply stops doing funny shit.

By finding some kind of peace with his infamy, Chris is at least doing something new. I'm excited to see his Tommy Wiseau phase.
