Chris's Relatives and his Internet 'Fame' -

With Chris's recent whining about how none of his relatives have bothered to keep in touch with him and Barb, I couldn't help but wonder how many of them are aware of his Internet 'fame'. What are the chances that he whined to one of his relatives about being 'Internet famous', and that was enough to pique that person's curiosity to the point that they decided to Google him?

I am especially interested in knowing if the two most respectable members of the family: Dr. David Chandler and his half-sister the mathematician, are aware of his notoriety. (We can make a fairly educated guess regarding what Cole thinks of him.)

This could be the reason that none of the family has tried to reach out.

It's probably a fair bet that they're aware of this shit. They're educated people so they're at least intelligent, and I have to believe that any private practice doctor (he's an optometrist, right?) is going to be on top of the things being said on the internet about them (yelp, etc...) i'm Sure Dr. Chandler has googled his own name and seen the CWCki.

it's speculation, but it's a good bet that they're aware of Chris's infamy and are staying well outside of the blast radius. It's also possible that they ignore Barb and Chris for other reasons. It's not as if there aren't enough to choose from.

EDIT: not to mention the phone call that his office probably gets on a daily basis.

Plus, Chris interacted with David at, I believe, Bob's funeral. He gave David a gift for Savannah, though it's unknown if she recieved it. Later during the Savannah Leaks, Chris expressed a disappointment that David didn't have anything to do with him. And if I remember correctly, he was completely unsure of what happened to Carol.

I think that at least the more immediate ones are, if only because of idiots occasionally trying to contact them about Chris. For example, I can easily see someone deciding to be a "good person" and contact David to tell him that he needs to help assume control of Chris or to otherwise try to interact with the Chandler clan. Or trying to see if he'd dish any dirt on anyone. Or just mailing the nudes to his office. There have been some people out there that would do it: after all, if they're willing to mail nudes to Chris's churches then they'd probably mail them to his half-brother's office practice.

Other than that, I don't think that many of the more immediate family members really know that much about it unless Chris specifically tells them. I imagine that he probably told at least a few people at the funeral. It wouldn't normally be his style not to complain at least a little about everything.

Well, he is a jerk and could care less about decorum, combined with his ego I can see him doing exactly this. I hope he didn't, but I can see him doing something like this.

It's like Mary Lee Walsh and Cole: they are well aware of the internet infamy of the manchild. If you go look at Mary's contact page it only has her e-mail on it, which tells me she wanted to stop getting calls from Julayfags. David really doesn't have that choice. I don't think Bob even knew where Carol was.

Then there's his Aunt Harriet and Uncle Tom in Richmond. He refers to them a few times. That's Barb's sister. From photos we see Barb had some sort of relationship with her sisters; what happened? Like much of what surrounds Barb, it's a total mystery. We talk about Bob's family but Barb's was bigger and, seemingly, more involved with her until lately.

Something happened, either slowly over time or a single event. It's honestly a very interesting subject within the confines of this forum. Why doesn't Chris contact his Aunt and Uncle?

It's debatable if Chris is really "famous" anyway, especially when you consider how unnoticed his national TV appearance on Failosophy came and went. If you're unaware of Chris's internet reputation it usually stays that way until you do some digging, whether it's Google searches or the CWCki. I think it's a stretch to assume that his extended family is aware of Chris's multiple fake courtships with trolls. If they were to do a Google of his name and see the bra and panty pics, Tomgirl photoshoots or other embarrassing things, I think the common reaction would be to just look away. It takes time and effort to figure out what's happening in Chris's head, and most folks end at the White Knight conclusion of "Poor autistic, he must have been tricked real bad into doing that. I'll pray to Jesus for him and do nothing else."

Let me put it this way: If you are reading this, you know more about Chris than anyone in his family does. He's a neglected son of seniors with mental disabilities, and he's always been Bob and Barb's cross to bear. I'm sure most of the extended Chandler family thought Chris was doing so well through high school and college, and probably smile at the thought of Chris scribbling away at his homemade comic books whenever they think about him. I really doubt his extended family has any interest in trying to "fix" or "help" Chris, because even he is pretty aware of how distant they all stay.

Well he had the tomgirl hair, unless Barb's forced haircut occurred prior. In my head I imagine him wearing a poorly fitting Goodwill shirt and slacks, clip on tie, and a women's vest or jacket (so he can be an on the down-low tomgirl) with the Prince Valiant hairdo. Not sure if he'd be bold enough to wear eyeshadow and clear lip gloss, but I bet he would. There's no doubt in my mind that he looked like some sort of androgynous mess at the funeral, blissfully unaware of how disrespectful he is.

Oh you opened up a whole new angle for me. I had never even considered Barb's relatives. I don't think I've ever seen them get mentioned so it's news to me she even has any family, I never even gave it a thought because it never came up. If this is the situation Barb has been left to spend the rest of her days in then she has probably strained those ties as well.

Bob and Barb are both outcasts of their respective families to the point of being left to die alone. No matter who is the 'better' parent of the two, that is a fucked up mother and father to be given. Chris never stood a chance.

It was like he was struggling to adapt to a new kind of relationship in his life with his limited social skills, and only had TV's examples to follow from, but he seemed like a creepy old grandma/aunt. And the fact that he linked "Savannah" to the Cwcville Library account so suddenly means he still hasn't learned what is and isn't acceptable. Like, he wants people to forget about this stuff, but because he is socially inept and doesn't have the patience for a conversation, he links people to all the shit he wants people to ignore.

I remember him saying he was going to give her a list of specific videos in the Library to watch so that she could avoid the bad stuff. Which is .

BTW, there's an online memorial site for one of Chris' relatives and some family members have signed it. I thought of adding a troll comment, but I didn't, and I felt ashamed that I had had the temptation to do so.
