I'm With Chris

1. In the, albeit weird, discussion on Autism he did with some game (Little Big Planet?), he was very cognizant of the probable causes of autism and stood firmly against the vaccines = autism claim. He is autistic and said that there is no link between vaccines and autism. This is something to be commended.

2. I'm probably reaching here but he does "fairly decent" voice impersonations. Much better than me. His Uncle Ruckus and Peter Griffin would work in a party setting.

3. A well documented, cautionary tale. I like to paint and have made over 100 paintings. I don't think they have a market but I like them and used to display them all over my house (literally every square inch of every wall) in order that I might delight visitors. Visitors were mainly freaked out. After watching enough CWC videos, I removed them all from my walls and stored them in a closet.

I think there are still some redeeming qualities to Chris. To be honest, I have pondered this for many years - perhaps I'm missing something?

Oh hey we have a thread about this already

Whoop de doo for us

edit: And that one fizzled out a year ago. That should be telling us something.

edit 2: Here, have some more threads about the same topic in different words, none of which are locked

edit 3: also if you're looking for good qualities "Chris is a good example of what not to do" is really grasping at straws

Don't even know what to say about this. Not sure if lame troll attempt or just really dumb.

Of course there's no link, he shits himself because of his McDonald's and Hungry Man grease diet. He also tells off people with Aspergers in that video because they're stealing his limelight.

Invite him to your party. Nobody else is going to. Do you think he did any impressions at the gay bar?

Woah. You could have left like one or two up. Don't always go to such extremes.

He really has no redeeming qualities. He's selfish and shitty. He makes people laugh by doing so, maybe that's it.

Christian really doesn't make any good points about anything. The things he cares enough to know about are the same thing nobody else cares about, so his points fall flat.

I know people really want to talk up Chris and make it seem like he had a good idea or two but he really didn't.

Being quite serious, the difficulty is that while Chris has some qualities that in most people would be considered admirable, they tend to be twisted by some other facet of his personality.

For instance, he has a great deal of determination. When he's got his heart absolutely set on something, nothing in the world will stop him. Unfortunately, the thing he's got his heart set on is usually something incredibly stupid and/or dangerous, like the taint piercing.

He's true to himself and doesn't care what other people think. Unfortunately, this leads to him being banned from stores and dressing like his mother in public.

He's very open, but this is because he has no filter and therefore sees no difference between admitting that he doesn't make friends easily and telling everyone that he shits himself.

So yeah, while Chris has good qualities, it's hard to think of any that aren't dragged down by the negative.

EDIT: Now I come to think of it, most of these good qualities that I've mentioned are symptomatic of autism. So basically, autism is his good quality.

My philosophy on life is that there wouldn't be the good if there weren't bad. So I take Chris for what he is as the sum of his person. I know he tries, he has minor victories, but also so many failures. But that is beside the point of his morality.

I guess the only good thing I can say about him is he at least tries. He never stops trying. Stupidity, perseverance, call it what you want. He tries.

Hmmm... Aside from him actually getting a business together and managing to do something none of us thought he was capable of years ago, nope.

One more good point of Chris: no matter how autistic he gets, he will never be as autistic as this post.

I interpreted this as the OP going "let's talk about me." Purely because he tried to talk about Chris but the true point he wanted to get across was that he likes to paint and he, like Chris, scared people with his art.

If the biggest point on your three-point list is the one where you talk about yourself, there's definitely a different subject to what you claim.

This does raise another point. You couldn't exactly call it one of Chris' good points, but it is something good that has come about because of Chris. Namely, that quite a few people on these boards (myself included) have used Chris as a kind of negative example of how to live your life. In my case, I drastically improved my diet and exercise regime because I looked at Chris and realised I was on the slippery slope. Others have said that he's served as a how-not-to guide for art, for employment, for meeting women and even for behaving as an autistic person.

His general incompetence has resulted in quite a lot of educational posts by people on these boards on such diverse subjects as piercings, gender issues, mental health, insurance, motor maintenance and LGBT topics. Whatever Chris is doing, the chances are someone here will be able to say exactly where he's going wrong, which is quite informative.

His terrible writing and art has inspired some pretty good writing and art in response.

So he does indirectly cause good to happen. Aren't there a few religions based around the idea that you need the negative to balance out the positive? That's Chris' role in the universe.

I know this thread is an ironic shitpost, but I think Chris does have some good qualities.

1. He is completely unaware (and/or) unconcerned about how people will view his eccentricities, and that gives him the courage to be himself no matter what. This is the one quality Chris has that I also wish I had. I also think that's a big reason why a lot of people have taken a severe dislike to him. There are plenty of people here who are just as weird and fucked up as Chris is, but they are too scared to put themselves out there in any way. Their fear might be wise, of course, as Chris's true and honest weirdness has caused him a lot of problems, but I can't help admiring his courage.

2. He managed to earn a college degree despite being...well, not exactly gifted. I know there are a lot of people here who have no education at all, and for me that puts Chris way beyond them, especially if they are brighter than he is intellectually.

3. He can draw a little bit. He's certainly not a great artist, or even a competent one, but he's better than me. I have to draw at work sometimes (not for public consumption, just to give art direction) and if I was even as good as Chris it would assist me, so I can't help but look up to him in that sense.

4. He genuinely loves and cares about Barb, even though she has basically crippled his life. It might seem like nothing special to love your mother, but Cole couldn't bring himself to love that woman so Chris should be commended for it.

5. He's very funny and he's brought a lot of people a lot of laughs. This is, of course, unintentional on his part, but it still makes him a positive influence on the world.
