I'll call that and raise you Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas (the uncut version with the Kermit opener and the Laundry Scene where Ma gets to tell that rich fox bitch to fall off the dock. )

And, of course, the greatest "not having anything to do with Christmas" scene in any Christmas special:

Speaking of Muppets, the Muppet Christmas Carol is good, but I've got a soft spot for the first Sesame Street Christmas Special. If only because the characters haven't been fucked by the censors and we get to see this version of Oscar the Grouch:

I remember my favorite Christmas special I watched as a kid was Yogi's First Christmas. I have no idea why, other than it was an actual movie-length movie when most Christmas specials lasted an hour at most. Made it seem like more of a big deal, I guess...

Probably some of Oscar's greatest trolling.

a copy that doesn't blow the surprise of the short in the description
Peace On Earth! Grampa Squirrel is coming back home to Critter Town for a merry Christmas, happy varmints are singing carols in the streets, and all is well. Then the grandkids ask grandpa why we say "peace on Earth, goodwill to men" at Christmas time. Real spoiler and not a joke: it's because mankind is extinct because they died horribly in war including the on-screen death of the last human on earth drowning in mud after getting shot lol merry christmas

Too bad they don't show this anymore:

Too 80's for people.
still my totes fave arrangement of We Three Kings

and what would Christmas specials be if we ignored that time that the no good jerk everybody hated showed how how his heart could grow to an amount previously unknown and still unbelieved, so long as it meant some whos had a happy Christmas

Out of all the Rankin-Bass specials I think I like this one the best:

But you can’t go wrong with the standards:

And even the batshit insane ones people never talk about:

When it comes to movies, however, one of my favorites is this Japanese take on the Nutcracker - perhaps the best film version ever. It has Christopher Lee, after all:

But when it comes to holiday episodes this is my favorite:

I love me some Christmas specials and movies so here are a few. let's start with a rather obscure nutcracker anime.

Then there is this gem from Nelvana, I miss there traditionally animated films

I forgot MGM made a third all dogs go to heaven movie, it was pretty bad.

In terms of TV Christmas specials, the Billy and Mandy Christmas special has a place in my heart.

Billy and Mandy was always batshit insane and this special doesn't disappoint. You got Gilbert Gottfried voicing Santa who has been turned into a vampire, you got Malcolm McDowell showing up as the Head Vampire (singing Singin' in the Rain as a subtle reference to his role in A Clockwork Orange no less), and you got the over-the-top gross-out humor the series is known for (Billy getting his face ripped off by the Wampa is a personal highlight).

It's fucking great.

I'm a grown-ass woman, yet Mickey's Christmas Carol still has a soft spot in my heart, and is the definitive short version of the classic tale. Weirdly enough the 80's/early 90's TV broadcasts are infinitely better than the current ones 1) because there are no time edits, 2) the third short is redundant since it stars Donald and Chip and Dale, 3) the way the shorts are introduced in the same style of the opening credits, and 4) because it frames the presentation as all the characters having got together to create their own adaptation of A Christmas Carol instead of just dropping the characters in the roles. I know other animated adaptations did that (Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol and A Flintstones Christmas Carol are the first to come to my mind), but this way just does it better somehow.
