Should i look his writing for White Wolf to compare his writing from then to now?

He's usually working with other people so it's hard to pin down which bits are his. The only thing I'm 100% sure is his fault is the section in reqieum for rome where they talk about how history is a story so it's okay they got everything wrong. It's such a self-indulgant perspective that it's got to be him.

My knowledge of WW ends with the oWoD, and as far as I can tell the only books he worked on there were a few Hunter supplements. Hunter was White Wolf at peak "stuff the book with bad fiction," but nothing from Wendig-written stuff seems any worse than the rest of the dross they published.

Looks like pre-Disney writers have been making progress in getting their royalties. Specifically James Kahn and Donald Glut. I'm sure Chucky must be celebrating this thinking he's next on the list to get what he thinks he's owed. Especially after Timothy Olyphant appeared on Conan looking like Chuck's shitty OC, which probably inflated his ego a bit or pissed him off for not getting paid for it.

So was the fiction in those books written at a young primary school level or did someone have to edit Wendig writing?

I've heard the Disney Star Wars EU is an absolute minefield of guidelines compared to the old EU which probably ensures the only people writing it are your egoistical Wendig types trying to show how they're a Star Wars writer and are thus kings of the soyboys, insane activists who love to pervert a famous cultural artifact like Star Wars by including scenes of women menstruating and tampons, and people doing it for peanuts which at best gives you phoned in shit (like the nu-EU Thrawn books) and at worst gives you Blacker and Acker fart fetish books.
Maybe I'm a little drunk, but this makes me want to see if this board can "invent" an author, get a Disney contract, and then write an entire shitpost book by the rules. (both dollars from disney going to Null for board maintenance of course)

You know, "Naked Came the Stranger" style and all?

I was thinking to myself: "It's a RPG about supernatural creatures, of course you take liberties for the sake of the game." Then I found the quote.

This kind of irreverence to truth and history is common among Chuck and his TOR buddies. If you read their interviews, it's clear that they view themselves as the smartest and most moral people ever to have lived and expect to remake the science fiction canon in their own image.

Looking at the Amazon sales numbers I see a lot of older books, and no Chuck. I don't see Roanhorse or Jemisin on that list either. It's one of the reasons I'm really curious how these books sell.

@Boston Brand If you can, I'd love to see how Wanders sold and how well the Heir to the Empire, Aftermath and High Republic books are selling and who is buying them. There have been accusations about librarians using their budgets to prop up Wendig and Co. while refusing to stock more popular books by problematic authors. If the majority of books are getting distributed by Baker & Taylor and Scholastic it would give that theory more credibility.

Honestly, it's fine if you want to take some historical liberties with your fantasy board game. Keep the disclaimer short and sweet, like "this is a work of fiction, not intended as a factual historical reference" or some shit.

What you shouldn't do is include paragraphs of self-indulgent and self-aggrandizing bullshit to show off and let the reader know how you're "totally just like the ancient Romans guise"

Absolute fucking crap like what that retard said is why literally everything said by these weird worms should be utterly ignored.

The very concept of truth is alien to them. They are scum who completely disregard reality.

You cannot trust liars who reject the very concept of objective reality.

1) This is the kind of stuff where I would simply close the book and return it to the store for a refund.
2) Having factually wrong information within your RPG for the sake of playability or narrative structure and creative liberties is totally fine and dandy. Otherwise, any historical RPG would be ramshackled into following every letter of a chronicle verified by meticulous research and cross referenced with at least five other sources... but: Here in that box, this chucklefuck claims to write hard scientific, historical facts and it's a huge load of bullshit and self-felating nonsense.

There is a big difference between "ignore history in favor of drama" and "facts aren't the same thing as truth." The first is acceptable as creative license; the second is postmodernist gibberish.

On a very abstract level, there is a merit in talking about the gap between what is considered subjective truth and what is actual objective fact, especially in terms of mythology and early historical writing. A thousand years ago, the Japanese would believe it's the truth that their island was created by a god stirring the seas with his spear... but it's not fact.

But the people writing that box are horrendeously ill equipped to have that discussion - if they were even willing to have that discussion at all, that is. This is just some insufferable morons blowing smoke up their own asses and using a very shaky and vapid view about how mythology works to defend their own shitty writing.
