Cicada invasion of 2021 - A neverending simphony

I lived in the Midwest during the last one of these, now I live way south. Cicadas don’t come here and neither does snow so I just lol at anything up north. Although bugs that sleep for 17 years, then make a lot of noise, fuck, and die are kinda cool, I’m happier they are doing all that shit somewhere else.

I think it's a ploy to normalize eating bugs because that's what the lizard people really like to eat, and they'd love to do it publicly without causing a ruckus.

I saw some cicadas today, not outside by me but like at a place with a park down the road a bit. They weren't making noise and it was like 7 PM so I guess they were asleep. Someone was there before me because there was a crushed dead cicada at the base of the tree. I'm gonna assume it was an "eat-the bugs" type because it's funnier that way when in reality it was probably just someone accidentally stepping on the thing. There were like just 10 of them chilling on a small tree at various random points of said tree.

A few days ago I faintly heard some of the fuckers only to find there's apperently a fuckload of them just slightly down the street from my house and they're in places I can't seem to fucking see but apparently the birds can somehow see them perfectly because each time I think I'm getting close enough to take a pic of one a tiny spaztic bird fucking swoops in and attempts to gore the thing, usually succeeding. Also ran into the mythical fungal rot cicada, though it was the only one I managed to save from the birds. The rot wasn't fully set in but the ass clearly had a fungus inside it. Though most of the things talking about it mention only the males, it was a Female cicada.

The lesson I learned that day was somehow the retarded chittering birds literally drown out the cicada noises, fuckers are loud as hell. Louder than the cicadas it's deafening. jesus christ these birds man you would not believe the kinda shit I hear out there daily.

Still waiting for the cicadas in my area. I heard one on a walk in another neighborhood last week, but that was it. I wonder if it's just way too damn hot for them right now or there's just not gonna be a whole lot of them this year. Which is fine by me since the Diceroprocta apache is fucking loud, but I kinda like the sound of cicadas anyway and will have my window open during the day just for white noise. It'll be a sad, lonely summer if I don't hear them this year.

I was scared of them for a long time because as a child I caught one and it poked me with it's mouth-straw thing and it stung. I since equated them to wasps until high school.

Yeah, if you hold onto them long enough they think you're a branch because their brain is about the size of an atom. Dumb buggers but they've got some charm to them. When you're not experiencing permanent hearing damage.

And end up causing massive crop failure from killing too many of good bugs that take care of the worse ones for you. There's wasps that have specifically adapted to kill cicadas just like there's ones that take down tarantulas. When you spray poison that can kill any insect it will harm others more than it harms the pests.

Brood X is the Pharoah cicada, apparently. They sound like a fucking alarm. They're apperently a "near threatened" level of species. The fucking media spin telling people to eat them en-masse might fucking legit lead to them becoming an actually endangered species. There's annual cicadas that look and sound closer to the evening cicada but much like the 17 year pharoah cicada species their life cycle is actually long as hell and they only come out to fuck and die. There's just more of them to the point you see them nearly every year.

This would definitely happen. These bugs get one chance to breed and then they die and the offspring have to bury themselves. Humans in the US alone probably outnumber these cicadas. If everyone ate some there would be none left. But the left doesn't think into the future more than a few seconds.

this map is inaccurate as there is state overlap with broods and brood X is all over my state right now despite not being marked as an area on this map. It's on other maps specific to brood X though those are also mildly inconsistent.

They're kinda a lovable sort of retarded, not as aggro as some tard insects with stingers. No joke,one time A bee landed on me, completely calm and still, stung me, and then spazzed out and died. That's practically bee suicide, and an asshole ass way to go about it. Cicadas just sit around and go "BWEEEEEEWO" for like their whole above ground life and spend their whole underground life sucking on tree's toes.

These maps can only be as accurate as the workforce sent out to track what they're mapping. The amount of people specializing in cicadas is already likely small enough but brood X specifically it's probably in the hundreds at most.
