I remember when I was a fan of Skydoesmincraft but his fans were never like this at all as far as I remember. Wtf has happened in the span of almost 5 years from 2011-2015 Minecraft fans to 2019-2021 Minecraft fans? It is unbelievable to see this shit is somehow quirky and cute to people.

Prior to 2020, there was so much other shit going on that was actively grabbing people's interests. While Minecraft was pretty popular back in 2011-2014, it was popular among children, and the main Minecraft CCs were gearing their content towards kids (Look at PopularMMO for instance). To give credit to Clay, one of the things that gave him his initial kickstart in popularity was his "Unsolved Mysteries" videos, which were more geared towards teens and adults. He was seen as one of the more palatable Minecraft Youtuber at the time because he wasn't marketing himself towards children and, unlike FitMC and SalC1, his content was more focused on the game itself.

Like I'll gladly bash Clay for being a social idiot, but when it comes to Youtube and building a brand, the kid's a fucking genius. He went into this with a clear plan, and he built an empire that went a full year without any hiccups. If it weren't for his dumbass modder changing Piglin drop rates in his recording mod, his reputation would be more like Markiplier's right now.

Of course, that's his main problem: He's got Markiplier's biggest problem (a community of horny teenagers) combined with his reputation getting shot by the October speedrun. I'm almost worried about how things will change once Karl Jobst's video comes out, since he's got a LOT of evidence that backs up everything Dream's been saying these past 7-8 months.

Someone on Twitter pointed out that Ranboos Home Screen on his phone is fanart of him and Tubbo dancing (Ranboo is dipping Tubbo, and they have two hearts by them). I think spending that much money to get an extension on Tubbos house could be considered weird, but I also think that both Ranboo and Tubbo don’t have many friends and are excited to have found someone they get along with so well. It’s important to note that Ranboo has been a fan of Tubbo since before he started streaming.

Tubbo has said he wants to keep his sexuality to himself, as he feels he doesn’t have privacy in most parts of his life. If Ranboo was attracted to men, I’m not surprised he wouldn’t tell his viewers. They would probably sexualize him even more and be creepy about him and Tubbo.

I am very curious to see how people react to it. if he comes to the conclusion that dream cheated accidentally how will people react? he is the most trusted voice in the speedrun community by far and seems to have done a lot of extensive research the video is an hour long apparently. Clay would still be an idiot for it but a lot of the claims of him being a horrible manipulator because of it could be thrown out. it would be a major stain on his youtube 'resume' but outside of that there is no substantial reason to believe he is an absolute fuckwad person rather then a young idiot who was thrown into fame he can not handle. even i thought he very obviously cheated before he admitted to it and i said so on here and i am definitely more of a 'fan' of his.

Wouldn't be very helpful. Generally Americans don't update their driver's license until it expires. Assuming Clay got his between ages 16 and 18, the photo would at BEST show how he looked in 2015-2017.

Furthermore, his identity is protected by Florida Statutes regarding identity theft after the TeamR00ted thing. The only way you would be able to see what his ID photo looks like would be if you went to the Longwood PD and filed a police report against him.

To anyone retarded enough to actually consider this, remember that:

1. Obviously, the police take down your info when you file a report.
2. The police are going to share multiple people's photos from different Driver's Licenses They will know which one is Clay, but they are going to expect you to be able to identify him.
3. If your description of Clay is wrong due to him losing weight and/or the leaked photo not actually being him, you are fucked.
4. When the police contact Clay and realize you filed a fake police report, you're potentially looking at a first degree misdemeanor and a restraining order. So you're still fucked.
5. People here aren't going to believe what you find anyways because you aren't allowed to take pics of the photos they show you.

2019-Present crowd doesn't appear to actually be that interested in Minecraft but love the personalities and social/parasocial aspect that we see in modern web entertainment. I think it's more like a kid's cartoon now where the people in it are interactive so it's like crack and the mentally ill rule-34 addicts have just latched onto it as well creating a terrible brew.

I could say that pewdiepie fangirls in the early 2010’s were also like this, but there weren’t nearly as many clout-chasers. I tried watching them last year, but turned off the stream because their humor was so dry. Tried another video and it was the same dry humor. Yet, they treat them like greek deities who’s every platonic gesture is an allegory for gay sex, at some point trending dream mpreg and calling him bisexual after he confirmed he’s straight.

IIRC the porn ban happened because tumblr had literal child porn blogs on it that staff did a terrible job at purging, so they implemented a terrible bot that purged a bunch of normal blogs and caused people to leave en-masse. The site has much less cringe after the bot fiasco, but is less active than it used to be.

Quarantine forcing almost every school-attending person to use the internet regularly led to a spike of underaged twitter users with stan accounts. Also most parents not bothering to monitor their children’s internet access, although this has been a thing before quarantine.

Twitter is just a terrible place for anyone aged 13-16, at that age you’re bound to say something ignorant but you’d just be quote-retweeted en masse and told to deactivate by weeaboo kinnies and adult tumblr migrants.

Now that you mention it, I think it’d be interesting to see how Dream handled fame vs Markiplier did and what they did with it. Regardless of your opinion on his gameplay or commentary, it can be objectively stated he’s a great person. He constantly gives to charity, visits kids when he has the time who are dying of terminal illnesses, and tries to understand people when they unjustly throw his problems onto him.

Spoiler: How Markiplier handles Internet Fame and Everything Else

If you don’t know the story, his father was diagnosed with a type of cancer and it pretty profoundly altered his life, as he died in Mark’s arms as a very young teenager. And so, he does all of this charity work and visits because he doesn’t want to see anyone end up like his father, or at least, if not like his father, then to pass away safely and without pain. He’s made a video talking about how he talked and played with a little girl to find out the next few weeks into treatment, it was too late and she had died. It hit him pretty hard.

His stance of sexual relationships is a big fuck no, he has explicitly called out his fans and Jack (Jacksepticeye) fans for their disgusting behavior of shopping them when it has almost ruined their real friendship. Now his fan base is populated by 20 somethings who are nostalgia and young teenagers who just enjoy who they are.

He treats his friends immensely well as well, keeping in contact with people he’s been friends with who had faded into YouTube obscurity. He seems them as people more then most do, and it’s a little jarring if not heart warming to see he has the same enthusiasm seeing his old friends as the day he met them over almost a decade ago. He cries when fans support him and his charities, he genuinely sees them as someone to make happy everyday. This has been detrimental to his health and I kind of wish he didn’t value his fans so highly, but he can’t seem to cut away in that way.

He cares a whole awful lot about everyone but sets basic and solid boundaries.

Then Dream over here is doing fuck all but gathering oil in his fat rolls and making all of his friends immensely uncomfortable by being sexual and arrogant and generally unpleasant, using his fanbase to harass others and encourage parasociality, plus sexualizing his friends and even people who just are in the SMP with no real connection to clay. He has not helped in any causes as far as I’m aware, and has done nothing to improve his health.

Sorry for the rather long post, I just found it interesting how similar in numbers and popularity they are yet how they’re run intentionally so differently down to the individual itself.
