Look, I know Chris' misfortunes are largely his own doing.

Yet I think it is unfair that there have never been any intelligent responisble people in his life, who were in a position to help him.

I contacte Cole Smithey the other day, giving him a link to the cwcki and telling him his half-brother is in dire straits.

Do you think this will work?

Though I don't know much about Cole, he seems like a terrible half brother. He barely sees Chris and never asks about him.

When Chris asked him to vote for him in the "Parappar" contest, he said he only would do it, if Chris found out who his father was. A good person would have just taken two minutes to vote for Chris with no strings attached!

Does anyone here think there is any chance whatsover that Cole will help Chris at all, even if that means just calling and talking to him?

I think it unlikely....

You think correctly.

Whatever his faults, Cole doesn't want or need a bizarre scenario like 14 Branchland in his life.

But what is Cole's deal?

Is he just so warped and screwed up from being raised by Barbara?

I understand hating her... but I can't think you can be a good person and treat Chris the way he does...

Even if you hate Chris and think he is annoying, if you are his flesh and blood I think your morally obligated to help him in some way, particularly if you are living the good life in NYC and California, and he is stuck in some dump in Virginia!

Perhaps a personality disorder brought upon by Barb's parenting?

He has yet to reply to my e-mail?

If chris was my brother I would not have anything to do with him, can't blame Coleslaw for feeling the same way.
I've also got a feeling he might not want to hear about chris considering during the years of trolling I'm sure he copped his share of calls and shit.

Indeed, this is one of the many burning questions oft inspired by Chris: Is your family truly family? As well as what moral obligations that entails.

It's true that Chris and Barb could use intervention to put some structure and usefulness back into their lives, but the way the Chandlers act, that would be a full-time, on-site job, something that Cole can't afford to do.

Cole washed his hands of the whole ordeal. He's done and won't change his mind.
Cole's a fucking selfish prick too.

Re: Coleslaw Smithy Assistance?

It's hard to judge such a fucked up family from a distance, especially when we really only know scraps about the relationships between other family members of Chris'. Cole hasn't shown any interest in Chris' situation up until now, but maybe he feels justified due to past events. We don't really know what happened, but we know Cole and Barb have a very strained relationship. Cole would really, really have to love Chris to step in and take care of him because it's incredibly obvious that favour will only ever be a one way street until one of them dies as Chris is too entitled and retarded to appreciate the gravity of such a generous act.

Life isn't like a Hollywood film, not everybody feels family ties are worth such personal sacrifice. if Cole knows Bob is dead then he will be aware it's just Chris and his aging mother in that house. He has done nothing up until now, so I'd say he has probably made up his mind on this matter already.

He's not going to, I'm sure he gets about twenty emails of exactly the same content every day.

If you call Cole and pretend to be Batman, he might change his mind.

I don't agree that anybody should be obligated to help others, especially when the connection is merely an accident of birth rather than choice. If somebody is toxic cut them out.

Re: Coleslaw Smithy Assistance?

I understand people's reasoning as to why someone is not obligated to help others.

However I am just afriad Christian will die or kill himself if he doesn't get help soon.

I know it may be asking a lot but if Cole could just ask Chris about his life, show interest, etc, It may do Chris a lot of good.

But of course it is a complicated situation... (sigh)
