I'm going to disagree with you on that point - Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, all of those cities have immense resources for the destitute. They're much like Vancouver, in that they're cities with ample social programs that by and large don't freeze solid in the winter. The problem is that the destitute tend to flock to those cities for the simple reason that they won't die just from sleeping outside from October through March. Moreover, states and provinces have tended in the past to literally ship their homeless population on Greyhound buses to those cities.
How does that affect Laura? Well, she'd find herself in a city where social resources are strained, highly selective, and while doing their best, cannot provide for everyone. So yeah, she's better off staying in Chicago where she at least has a subsidized apartment with heat in the winter.
Please tell me how Phil managed to get subsidized housing in Portland then. Not only did he get a subsidized place that he junks up with all his stupid weapons, maps and bikes but he also got the taxpayers to chop his dick off and invert it to make him a true and honest lady.
If a spud like Phil can manage that in just a few short years there's probably hope for Colt plopping her massive ass down in Portland, getting a free pad, her tits chopped off and living the sped-troon Portland dream.
Phil lives in beaverton, the most conservative suburb surrounding Portland. He may have been on some kind of list for awhile since he showed up in portland like 5 years ago. Portlands housing crisis is rapidly worsening. There is a governors race in Oregon, and the republican candidate may actually win. He is emphasizing his plan to address homelessness specifically. If he wins, and colt finds out, the trip is going to be cancelled.
I believe Phil has a serious tard Wrangler advocating for him .a dedicated case worker maybe.

What “support” do you give to others, Colt? From what we’ve seen here on the Farms, you drop people quicker than a jack rabbit whenever they something out of line with your views.

Shit, she hasn’t found housing. First she’s not a OR resident. At best she put in an application somewhere or thinks she’s found a “friend” to latch onto. She says she’s moving to six other places in the space of a few months.
Also, never forget Colt is a pathological liar. I think all her stories about moving the past few months have just been lies for attention and also in hopes the gay charities she stalks would fall for it and allow her to come back and creep on teens to “say goodbye.”

If she was going to drop everything and leave within the next few days, I'd say yeah. But she's got a couple of months before she makes the move, which is more than enough time to have a falling-out with her therapist, spot various "red flags" about her prospective housing situation, or get another offer of housing in someplace she thinks will be even better.
She's been gunning for Portland for a while, and I think that eventually she will end up there (at least for a while), but until she's actually there, I'm like, "Yeah, yeah, Colt--you go on and do whatever."
Given how profoundly Narcissistic she is, I'll venture that any "support" coming from Colt is 1) highly conditional (she expects a certain type of response in exchange for her "support," whether she consciously acknowledges it or not); 2) only extends to people whose problems mirror her own, and thus interest her; and 3) is less about what the recipient actually wants or needs than what Colt wants to give, and feels good about giving.
One thing I've learned about humans in my time here on this planet, it's that the more aggressively they lay claim to having a particular virtue, and the more their identity hinges on it, the less likely they are to actually possess it. Anybody who makes a lot of noise about how much they like to "help" others, and how "compassionate" and "supportive" they are, is somebody to stay clear of--and steer vulnerable people away from.
Colt is only compassionate and supportive when it is easy for her to be, on her terms, and when she believes there will be the right kind of payoff for it. But she is unable to find any empathy for people who are not (at least in her temporary estimation) just like her, and share her specific problems.
If you're not trans, having trans problems, she has nothing for you. If you're trans, but don't share her particular problems, or don't agree with her--maybe you're a client of her old therapist at CoH, and dare to like him and find him helpful--she has nothing for you. We've seen plenty of examples of her polarized, black/white, good/bad thinking, and that extends to "people worthy/unworthy of my support." And if you start out in the former category, it doesn't take much to be banished to the latter--all you have to do is disagree with her, or need a kind of support she's either not interested in giving, or cannot play the hero by steering you toward it.

The phrase, "I deserve what everyone else has," really grinds my gears, for a couple of reasons.

She finally got a private apartment, a safe place from which to get her shit together, at very low cost for the first year--and she has absolutely no qualms about abandoning her lease at a moment's notice, once a seemingly-better option presents itself. The contract means nothing.
She demands services from various community organizations, relies on them for her very survival, takes advantage of everything they have to offer her, and then tries to smear their reputations by posting negative reviews and shit-talking them on SM.
