It's very self-explanatory, come up with a fake genre of music that could be a real thing, but you better make sure that it's not too strange or unbelievable. There are 7 simple rules to this game.

Rule 1: Come up with your own genre of music.
Rule 2: You have to have come up with the characteristics of this genre.
Rule 3: You gotta be creative about it.
Rule 4: Don't make it too absurd.
Rule 5: Come up with some fake history about this genre.
Rule 6: Make it into a reality (This one is optional)
Rule 7: Have Fun

(I'll add a poll where users can vote on which is the best fake genre)

Pseudo Learning

Someone reads out a textbook and then makes a track out of said reading, Be it a remix or completely new piece of music.

The genre was first designed by Tessle Franklin in 1846 whilst trying to educate his son on the Roman legions.

Since then a niche movement that resurged in 1927, with a brief period of counterculture featuring not just textbooks but also fiction and food recipes.
This sub genre is widely regarded as a mistake in the Pseudo Learner community.
In recent times the music has found new life on popular social media sites such as YouTube, Vidme, Facebook and Xhamster.

Popular artists include:
Podunkulous
Mary Francoise
Terpenes
Mary Francoise (male)
and Christian Weston Chandler.

Hookline.
The idea is making bass instruments (get it?) as the lead instead of, well, leads. Bass guitars have an extreme presence, of course, but things that boost bass such as drums and any kind of other booming instrument (real, of course, no synthetic unless it's a real instrument) Lead guitars are now background noise and have barely any amp to them so you hear them in their twangy glory, but no electric in it.

You could attribute it to Primus who uses a lot of base in their tracks.

Sirencore

The latest in noise metal. Just drums and sirens. Sirencore's got all your favorite ear-splitters: ambulances, air raid sirens, the Emergency Broadcast System, every klaxon or foghorn you could ever want.
It's not metal, but, this song from Payday uses a siren.

Notable inventor and contributor to the Great Russian Cause Leon Theremin is most commonly known in modern culture for his invention of the titular theremin, also known as the Etherphone.
Using only the human body and the air to modulate frequency and amplitude, even as more mechanically precise methods of generating sound were devised, the instrument's emotional and physical nature helped it retain its appeal, propelling it to center-stage long after the war.
More recent years have seen the innovation of Etherwave, which is marked by "acapella" performances using complex arrays of Etherphones to generate an unearthly voice; the human element means performances are different every time, feats of precision and emotional flourishes keeping stellar records in demand, even for fans who already own one or two. On discrete messageboards, impressionable teenagers manage to argue hours on end over which scene of any given song is the best before state sponsored agents demand the disharmony is terminated.
Etherwave artist "Dax Haack" is a pivotal example, engineering his own specific combination of Theremin that he can tune to make a voice with a gravelly, almost mechanical sound, often skirting the line between appropriately crude and illegally deviant, firmly contrasting the all-too-often effeminate 'voices' of other popular artists. His fans have never heard him speak, never seen his face, but they've heard his words all the same. There are theories that he's actually a mute, though they are otherwise unfounded.

Imagine if music moved back toward its (village-era) roots, with nonstandard performances and a real focus on emotion even despite developments in technology. What would it be like? What if Synthwave's landing didn't accidentally sterilize the industry and get execs racing to come up with the "winning formula", but instead somehow forced people to go even further in the complete opposite direction, practically dancing to sing? It's a neat thought experiment, probably decent light SF fodder, but I can't imagine people putting in so much work to learn how to make a physically manifested 'voice' when they could just run everything through a switchboard.
If "Etherwave" is too far on the absurd side, though, consider the genre of "actually just music with a Theremin in it". Check this shit out:

Eichen-world music.

This little known genre enjoyed an incredible resurgence in popularity after Kurt Eichenwald gathered notoriety for sperging out on the left and right alike.

High-energy, high-BPM music from a variety of world cultures are combined with seizure-inducing strobe visuals for a unique and captivating sensory experience.

Music enthusiasts from around the world are sending acclaimed journalist Kurt Eichenwald their creations in the hopes of garnering his praise and/or death from status epilepticus.

Science Punk, a genre of music scientists use to explain their research to the general public.
Instruments include science equipment being banged on, the sounds of chemical reactions, and the feeling that you want to shove the wannabe musicians into a locker.

It was created when some scientists herd about all the sex musicians were having, and they decided that they wanted in on that action themselves.
Sadly, it only attracted people who want to appear smart, and didn't get any of its practitioners laid.

It is now only played at hipster social gatherings, as if to rub salt in the wound.

Northcore.

Sometimes described as 'post-Madchester', Northcore first rose to prominence in the late 1990s, when artists in Yorkshire, Humberside and Northumberland (Tyne & Wear) grew tired of floppy-haired pansies with annoying accents from 'the wrong side of the Pennines'. Key to the genre are the layered synth and guitar effects - a melding of the Leeds indie scene with Sheffield's long history of electronic music. Lyrical themes often include references to coal, whippets, Henderson's relish and football violence.. Fans of the genre began wearing flat caps as a fashion statement in the early 2000s, and the fashion brand 'orreight' has grown from simple band t-shirts to a whole range of apparel, including exclusive designer pigeon carriers.

Critics have pointed to the music's use of broad Yorkshire accents and frequent use of regional slang as 'elitist' and 'impenetrable', but fans maintain that this linguistic complexity is key to understanding and appreciating the Northcore genre.

Some of the biggest names in Northcore to date are:

EastSide (alluding to the location of Yorkshire vis-a-vis Manchester)
The Coalboys
Lost in Birdwell
Dewsbronx

The Coalboy's latest album 'Down in the Colliery at Midnight' sold 750,000 copies in its first month of release, and the single 'Pork Sandwich' has become something of an anthem, often sung at football games and weddings.

Purple Underground.

Sometimes referred as 'post-chillwave' or 'soborwave', is a style of Indie Rock that emerged in the mid-2000s. It is characterized by its dreamy retro sound, psychedelic or lo-fi textures, hip-hop style beats, and fascination with cultural memory and nostalgia. The genre rose to prominence after the fall of the Chillwave movement, when two artists from the Midwest grew tired of the typical Indie Rock sound, so they recorded two EPs and an album that fused elements of Ambient music, Dream Pop, Neo-Psychedelia, R&B, Trip-Hop, and Lo-Fi music. Lyrical themes often have something to do with nostalgia, emotional stuff, self-reflection, and being in a dreamlike state of mind. It often shares elements from other genres, like Shoegaze, Alternative R&B, Jangle Pop, and Space Rock.

Artist Includes:

Mr. Roboto
Orange Drank
Wrong Jesus
Mellow Gold
and K-Mart
