After bringing this up in the Tim Buckley thread on the lol-cow board, I brought it up to The Hunter when I quoted his(her?) post. Since Hunter said one was made in the old forum before it went down, I decided to try and make one. So without further ado, please discuss your favorite comic that you love, discuss about the web-comic you love to hate(that is not Sonichu), discuss as long as it's related to comics and web-comics. So, just to repeat, let's discuss.

*Edit: Renamed it to Comics since Hunter made a webcomic thread in the general forum.

Re: Comic/Web-Comics

I'm really into Looking for Group and Darths and Droids, but I'm way behind on both. D&D did a pretty good job at making Jar Jar of all people likeable.

I realized earlier today. Thanks to you pointing that out, I had to make an edit on the original post. This shows that I REALLY need to pay more attention to each word.

I've always loved Batman but I don't follow the current comics. Watchmen is good too.

This is my current favorite. So good. Like, literally it's probably the best non-Jurassic Park fiction I've ever read.

Although I do not really read comics that much, I used to read Simpsons comics back five to seven years ago. Remember reading an issue where guns were banned just like in the Halloween episode, but instead of zombies, Springfield was invaded by the British. If there is one comic I'd like to read, it would be the Walking Dead.

I am a Dark Horse fan, also Marvel. I love Hellboy, BPRD, and Baltimore. I'm an Avengers and X-Men geek -- I've read both titles since the '70s. I adore the old EC books! But I will follow particular writers and artists from book to book as well. I love Kurt Busiek and Brent Anderson's Astro City, and I don't think I've ever thought of anything that Alan Moore's ever written as a comic book -- I think of Watchmen and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as thoroughly illustrated novels. And if you have never read it, PLEASE go pick up a copy of "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" it won the Pulitzer and it is a masterpiece.

Recently started getting back into the X-Men storyline. Just enough to realize there's a shit-tonne I need to read about the project X storyline alone.

Can we talk about newspaper comics in this thread too?
Sure, you can include comics from newspapers. Just remember not to include manga or web-comics since we do have threads for those. Also graphic novels can count in this thread so those are fair game as well.

I have a ton of Catwoman comics. The ones Jim Balent drew in the 90's are my favorite. They have a nice mixture of character development and wacky, zany adventures that I don't really see in comics these days. 'When In Rome' is one of my favorite stories though, and I actually have Tim Sale's autograph (he personalized it :heart-full:)

I have some old Tales From the Crypt comics, and the Captain Star omnibus.

I love the works of Carlos Trillo and Carlos Meglia. They created Cybersix. Unfortunately it's not in English so I have to go here to read some of it. I try to get as much of their stuff that's translated into English as I can. I have Superman:Infinite City that Meglia worked on (it's...alright. I'd rather the Batman comic he was supposed to do had gotten published instead), a few of the Star Wars comics he drew, and I have Trillo's Chicanos and Borderline.

I'm a big fan of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, at least everything prior to Century. Most of Alan Moore's stuff is great, I think his early work for 2000AD is vastly underrated.

Speaking of 2000AD, that has a lot of strips that are hard to beat. Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog and Nikolai Dante are favourites. My avatar depicts possibly my favourite 2000AD character, Devlin Waugh. He's an upper-class British flamboyantly gay vampire exorcist who was pretty much created to troll 2000AD fans.

Also, Tintin is superb. I read them when I was a kid, then re-read them as an adult and got all the references I missed first time around. Herge put an incredible amount of research into those books.
