Communism on Tumblr - aka, why I want to be edgy and anti-capitalist

I want to know how many of these tumblrites have even been to a communist country.

Probably the closest to a communist country tumblrites have gotten is China, but they probably only did a weeks worth of vacation in Beijing or Shanghai.

The sad fact is these kids will never read those things either because they don't find it interesting or the teachers in schools are former revolutionaries themselves (people like Ward Churchill and Bill Ayers come to mind). This just creates an echo chamber of "America bad, destroy capitalism, Soviet Union wasn't so terrible etc etc." What really scares me is that these are the future leaders of America, and they have been taught from college and now even in grade school that the true evil in the world is the international Jewish bourgeois conspiracy led by the United States.

Perhaps the ultimate irony of these wannabe revolutionaries is things like the internet and tumblr would not have grown in a communist society. Only by the open business environment created by the free market. Of course, none of that means anything as long as they have a platform to rail against those dirty corporations and greedy bankers.

I weep for the future.

Okay, you're really exaggerating the death toll. People died, but it was nowhere near 150 million. This just unfairly portrays 20th century communism as a meat grinder of the masses. It was nothing like that whatsoever. In reality, only about 120 million died.

So what's keeping these SJWs from setting up a communist commune somewhere on a farm, with a closed production cycle, growing their own food on fields and making necessities in workshops and sharing it all?

You can start a communist sub-economy right in the middle of capitalism. There are no laws against it. It has been done in the Israeli Kibbuzim. They are sometimed quoted as examples that communism can work under certain conditions. The free software movement with products like Linux and Libre Office, gnuplot, gcc, Latex etc. can also be seen as a type of "virtual communism". The difference between capitalism and communism may be that it is legal to set up a communist micro-economy in a capitalist country but not vice versa.
[Though small-scale capitalism did exist to a degree in the Eastern Bloc nations, small businesses often operated under semi-capitalist conditions. Nowadays Cuba has legalized small to mid-scale free market businesses.]
