Sorry for the second thread, but this was the only way I could post a poll. Anyway the first thread was an "interest" thread, so I guess this is the "official" one. Marvel at my scare quotes.

So due to the disorganized nature of the project we could sit around and shoot shit about ideas forever, so in the interest of forward momentum I have created a poll containing all the ideas put forward so far so we can vote on one. Please only vote if you plan to involve yourself in the project in some capacity.

Once we have the results we can start to plan the game in earnest.

I think option 1 would be good for the RPG segments fluff. Especially if Chris's Original Sonichu issues, found in the house, somehow miraculously unscathed by the fire, were Necronomicon like. His rereading them reopens the bridge to CWCville, and his shattered mind moves in-between the to world, ala silent hill. As chris fixes this new twisted CWCville, he loses touch with the real world, and it in turn starts to become twisted and cartoonish.

Have you thought of playing with the idea of juggling the game worlds between CWCville and real life Ruckersville/Charlottesville like they do in the Legacy of Kain series? As in, in the CWCville his enemies and powers are more fantastical(like seen in the comic), but in the 'real world' both his opposition is more mundane(jerkops, weens, BRUTE MALES), but Chris himself de-powered accordingly. Some relics, such as the Megatron pistol / Pocket Knife / Mace can would still function in the 'real world' but they would be a step-down from his Sonichu powers. The shift between the 'real world' and CWCville would happen either between chapters of gameplay, or certain places in CWCville would allow Chris to warp back into Ruckersville for special events like the House Fire or battle against the snake assassin that has been bred purely for his demise.

Uzumaki, since it seems as if the 'Silent CWCville' idea is going to win, can we begin discussing how the gameplay work (most likely being 2D?) In my opinion, I feel it would be most appropriate to keep both modes of gameplay simple to avoid never completing the project since it already seems ambitious despite it being a collaboration (in my opinion, it is better to have a smaller, complete game, than a larger, incomplete one). When making the game, in my opinon, the 'Adventure' gameplay would likely fit the 'real world setting' better (due to a lower focus on combat), while the 'RPG' gameplay would likely fit the Sonichu realm better due to being more fantastical (if those are the two settings implemented). On the other hand, perhaps I should wait until later for more people to vote to ask this question...

Unfortunately, since this project has been sedentary for quite some time, I ask our contributors to post ideas on how the gameplay might work for option 2 (like I did). (Uzumaki, I hope you don't mind me doing this.)

A few days while we gather votes is not "going sedentary for quite some time", have patience.

Okay, we have a goodly number of votes now. As of this writing the results are:

Return to CWVville - 3
Silent CWCville - 8
Ocean's Chaotic Combo - 4
Pokemon Lightning - 3
Reign of Blue Arms - 1

Silent CWCville is the clear winner, having 50% more votes than it's nearest competitor.

I actually think the first few options can be combined pretty well. Chris jumps between CWCVille and reality to find classic relics and gather his old friends to defeat SEGA.

I don't really see how. Those other premises take place entirely in delusion land with no real-world counterpart. In order to flip back and forth we'd need to base the plot on something that actually happened (or "happened" within the context of the game world).

I guess this would be the first question regarding the development of the premise: do we adapt/parody an existing sonichu storyline (which seems like the easiest way to utilize the premise) or do we create a new story of our own. If we do create a story we're going to have to start with grounding it, because if there's no reality to return to it's hard to flip back and forth.

Maybe we could make it so the player has to decide for themselves whether CWCVille is real or just Chris' s daydreaming. We could include clues throughout the game to keep people guessing.

In my opinion, we should choose an existing storyline to parody from, so it is easier for others to understand how the levels should be made.
