From the trinkets on impulse racks at stores to the "people also bought..." button to drunk/high purchases: what was the last dumb thing you spent money on?

I've wanted a record player for a few years now, earlier this week I said to hell with it and got a cheap one.
I also grabbed a KitKat at the grocery check out the day before last. They're my favorite sweet, I can't resist. :heart-full:

In December, I bought a used Panasonic pocket camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH27), which was only around $6 at the thrift store although, like most thrift store cameras, I had to order a battery and a charger off of Amazon to be able to use it.

I got it because it has a medium-length optical zoom (10x) and also a slightly larger lens than the Canon I mainly use. It takes decent pictures however one drawback to the camera is that most functions beyond the shutter button and zoom control can only be accessed by touchscreen while I prefer to navigate with physical buttons and switches.

I suppose the touchscreen gimmick was meant to make pocket cameras more appealing to people who were already used to taking photos on smartphones. Adding touchscreens doesn't seem to have worked in preserving market share for compact pocket cameras against the competition from smartphones since most camera companies either stopped making pocket cameras altogether or only make really low-end pocket cameras anymore. (Some high-end mirrorless cameras are borderline pocketable but that's a separate category of camera as they have larger lenses and DSLR-sized sensors and, as such, can't be as compact as the older point-and-shoot pocket cameras.)

Mason jars.

So. Many. Fucking. Mason jars.

I've been open about living in utah, I'm not worried about kiwis showing up at my house (bring vodka). I'm not mormon, but food storage is a huge thing among the mormies. I got interested in it because of shortages due to rona, I love to cook anyway, bada bing, bada boom, I have a pantry of stuff now.

Enter the mason jars. There was a shortage of those too, so anytime I saw them at the store, I grabbed them

Well now they're taking over my house, so no more fucking mason jars.

As an aside, anyone want some strawberry whiskey jelly? Its based

Mainly I impulse buy books from the local thrift shop that either sound interesting or focus on one of my hobbies, then they usually sit around unread. I've picked up a bunch of books on early film history that probably all cover the same stuff and just history books in general. Extra weak towards old books.

Haven't been able to get into the right mood to just sit down, zone out, and read a book.
