imho, the forum needs to be a lot more trigger happy with the locking. I remember several times on the CWC forums where certain topics would descend into speculative spergfests (especially during the aftermath of the GameStop event) and @Hellblazer wouldn't blink in locking threads when they just completely derailed. Not hating on him or anything; I think that the best way to discourage any more off-tangent debatefests in this subforum would be to have someone lock the threads before they get out of hand, because it's happening far too often.

I don't have too much of a gripe with NJA myself, but my honest two cents:

We have a rating system.

We have an ignore function.

Remember, we're here to laugh at Enter, not ourselves.

(And yes, I'm guilty of participating in the spergfests as much as anyone else. Sorry. )

As am I. I'm starting to think there were times I was laughing more at other Kiwis than Enter or NJA.

Speaking of NJA, he does get some harsh treatment around here. As dumb as some of his statements are he is genuinely trying to participate in the forum. Even though I disagree with him I'd prefer his company to JJ's.

I also agree that we should crack down on reaction pics. While I think there are times when a picture is worth a thousand words, even if said picture is a silly internet meme, replying to every post with JonTron's face doesn't add anything to the conversation.

I like this forum and I like discussing MrEnter, as he falls into several categories of interest. He's an internet reviewer, a writer, and a fan of animation, all of which I can relate to. I also really get a kick out of analyzing Growing Around. On the other hand, sometimes the discussion of adult topics does go too far. We all know that child molestation and sex are never going to be touched upon. Unfortunate implications are funny, but sometimes they go on for too long.

Do you think it would be a good idea for everyone to put NJA on ignore? It would certainly cut down on the amount of threads being derailed.

Put him on ignore if you either don't care for his posts or if you really honestly truly cannot stop yourself from replying to him when you see him. I don't think every single person should put him on ignore. That'd effectively shadowban him, which is unnecessary because he rarely does anything wrong. He does raise good points and information at times. (In the Troll thread, I had no idea Enter followed up on his "evil in the world" statement until NJA pointed it out)
Just learn to pick and choose your battles. You shouldn't have to put a user on ignore to stop yourself from derailing a thread.

Honestly, I'm probably going to take him off ignore. I put him on there because his posts got old for me really fast, but it ended up being more trouble than it was worth.

This I agree with, but it should be a fourm-wide rule (as in the lolcow, DeegleNation, CWC, and off topic sub-forums), not just in the Enter boards.

Although I stated this earlier, I don't want him to be banned. At all really. My only gripe is when he makes multiple new threads with topics that should be discussed in the general discussion or already have similar threads. Locking threads more often would be nice to see.

I wholeheartedly agree if we didn't give him the attention and follow him off topic, shitposting would drop dramatically.

Anyway sorry for any bad posts or points I've made. I kinda feel like a big asshole now. I'll probably just lurk from here on.

That's good. I don't have anything wrong with @Jumpin Jenkins and at times he does offer some good insight, but he does overuse his JonTron gifs a bit.

... Although as someone who has used a few gifs myself, I feel a bit hypocritical in saying this. :/

While you may not like each other's opinion, at this point I would argue that Dubya makes a valid point that should not be deleted. He does not like this forum and finds it embarrassing. His comment was clearly inflammatory, but there are some people here at the farms who have that opinion and will not openly voice it. They might not say it as colorfully as he would, but the fact that this area is so resistant to differing opinions is an issue.

While he may have been trolling you, his trolling like all effective trolling reveals the truth of this scenario. This thread was about the future of this board. Dubya does not post here often, but he has the right to chime in and say he does not like it. The fact that it caused agitation shows a clear weakness of the people here to tolerate dissent.

This goes right back to Null's original point. If a set of 4 or 5 words can create this kind of reaction, then I think this subforum needs to be examined.

I have only one person on my gears grinder list. Lets just say they had to work very hard to earn it. If a single person coming in with a somewhat reasonable opinion is enough to make it on your ignore list. I believe some introspection is in order. Your world is very small and insular.

I have heard differently, but so be it. JJ was an agitator. His posts added little to the conversation except to make it increasingly more insulated from reality. Look at his posts and examine the tone and temperature of the discussion right afterwards. If he comes back, I would strongly suggest you be very wary of him. Ask yourselves, how did the conversation change after he posted. Each person leaves a mark in a conversation. What was Jenkins' mark? Did it elevate the conversation or did it make you all fools in the process?

I would like this board to continue, because there is a lot to examine, but at the same time if it is an echo chamber then I doubt it will last. Nulls question about Autonomy was a valid one. If this board were to be subjected to the broader user base and same rules and moderation, would it survive?

I will be brutally honest, at this point I really doubt it.

THIS. If someone posts something off-topic, report it. If you hate a user, use the Ignore function. Responding to stuff like that with more posts just serves to derail and shit up threads.

Reaction gifs, pics, and videos are awful, and add nothing to discussion. I almost always delete them on sight if they're the only content of a post because they're pretty much just shitposting.

If people want tighter moderation in the Enter boards, I'm willing to do it, especially as the Chris boards have slowed considerably of late. I've been holding back from taking much action because I don't know much about Enter, but if people want it I never have qualms about mass-deleting posts and locking threads that have gone bad.

Enter doesn't interest me all that much, but enough people are into him that the subforum should probably continue. As @Null said, though, it exists almost as a separate community from the rest of Kiwi, and that has contributed to a bit more tolerance of bad posting methods than we would tolerate on any other board. Holding it up to the posting standards of the other boards can only help.

I don't want to take up your time with needless bullshit, @Hellblazer, but if you'd be willing to stay at least a week and give the forum some of your tough love, there might be some improvement. There's a lot of topics on the Entersphere that would've been better served with a "salt the earth" strategy more than anything.

I've honestly never heard of Enter up until his Kiwi Farms thread, but he piques my interest both as someone that still has a passing interest and as a guy who used to enjoy the type of criticism format he used, and there's quite a bit of content on the Entersphere that I feel would just be a waste compartmentalizing back into one topic on the lolcows forum. But the subforum is getting trollbaited more often than not.

It was a mistake for me to say anything to NJA today and I admit I fucked up there in seeing if he could elaborate more on his points. I hadn't been posting here or on Kiwi Farms as often lately mainly because I've been doing other shit and taking sort of a break.

I was getting really tired of the reaction gifs and other shit like that was just making this place look like a McDonald's PlayPlace so it would be good for the subforum to have more oversight for a while to get it up to par.

if there are a few things i can say this subform needs it to do its
1.cut down on the one word posts-pretty much what others have said
2.cut down on the off topic posts - if someone goes off topic in a thread just ignore it and move on don't get into a deep debate over off topic stuff (i can think of a few threads that have done this)
i can't really comment on the backdoor modding people do since i haven't seen it outside of the two times i did it (and am sorry for doing it) but if people feel the need to backdoor mod maybe we should look into getting another mod or a harder mod earthier way
the reaction gif debate im pretty natural on the hole issue there fine everyone once and a while but if people go over board then it should probable be cut down on
again all of this is my option based off what i have seen
