If you're young and healthy and you get Covid, you'd almost certainly be better off just riding it out.
If you've got underlying health conditions, well the side effects of the Hydroxychloroquine are going to be an issue. Also if they're mass prescribing it, you're not going to get the same level of medical supervision that you'd get if you were being treated with Hydroxychloroquine for malaria. The first time some boomer has a fatal reaction to it, the public will lose it's shit again.

Many of the nasty side effects of Hydrochloroquine occur in doses FAR HIGHER then what is being used to treat Corona patients. We are talking 600-1000mg doses. Corona patients are getting 200mg. The doctor that treated 500 patients with the stuff said roughly 10% suffered from nausea and diarrhea, which also already occur in some corona cases. Other effects, like the vision damage, require months if not years of continued use, not 6 days. And millions take the medication daily in africa, if it was really THAT horrendous nobody would touch the stuff.
And if I have to choose between being sick to my stomach or drowning in my own fluids, suffering additional permanent lung damage while being on a mechanical ventilator for weeks, well, thats well worth the risks. They're not going to use thsi stuff on mild patients with a bit of a coof, they will, however, want to use it on anyone presenting with breathing difficulties to cut any lung damage down drastically, before it spirals out of control.
I have been on antibiotics and hydroxychloroquine at the same time. Is this really an issue? I know that people with certain heart conditions can't handle hydroxychloroquine. But if the doctor thinks the benefits outweigh the risks of drowning in your own lungs they are going to monitor patients with interaction issues.

It's good if HCQ can clear the virus out of a patient's system so they can get out of the hospital quicker, but it would be even better if it prevented early infections from progressing into full-blown pneumonia. Then a lot of people wouldn't need to go to the hospital at all.
