I've seen a fair few people mention this show about the place, and it has earned a place in TV history as the longest continuously running serial in the world (it's recently celebrated being on the telly for 60 years) so why not have a thread on this?
Started in 1960, Coronation Street (or Corrie) is a soap opera about the residents of the titular street in a fictional area of Salford called Weatherfield. Over the years we've had teenage pregnancies, a murder rate that would shock South Manchester, the pub's probably blown up about 6 times and the latest 'big story' was a domestic abuse story, that for some reason delved into some fuckin' David Lynch territory at times.
It's sort of lost a little bit of steam after that story, with current threads being an alcoholic character struggling to quit the booze, a young girl falling for the local goth because she was nice to her and a local businessman buying up half the street, then trying to tear it down to build luxury flats.
However it does still provide a good level of insane entertainment, unlike rival British soap EastEnders, which is just insane at this point.
