July 4 will be a tipping point, watch. We all like to party and set off fireworks, and anyone who stops us from partying will be beaten by the drunkest among us. I wouldn't be surprised if the police don't even bother to do shit about calls they get on the Fourth of July. They probably won't in most all places except urban areas.
Forget Independence day, memorial day was this weekend and people already went nuts. Especially as we're seeing 90º in some places now.

Almost a month into reopening here. Some ghouls claimed that we'd be quickly overwhelmed and would regret reopening.

Mayor David Holt said:
We continue to monitor COVID-19 data each day. Below is today’s chart for new cases in the OKC metro. As has been the case for a month, the trends for this and other data points tend to be essentially flat or in a mild downward trajectory. The trends are encouraging. At the same time, the continuing existence of new cases is a reminder that the virus is still here. We expect to move into phase 3 of the “re-opening” progression on Monday. Most business closures were lifted on May 1 and all business closures were lifted May 15, so June 1 is a very mild transition. It is more of a symbol that we continue to head in the right direction. I’ll issue a new proclamation for OKC in the days ahead. Please continue to wash your hands, maintain your distance and wear your mask when in public situations where distancing is difficult. Be well, OKC.

The Feds are coming for Whitmer.

Some highlights:
"The U.S. Department of Justice is supporting seven businesses that filed a lawsuit challenging Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's executive orders to combat COVID-19.
In a "statement of interest" filed in the case Friday, the Department of Justice says the businesses have "identified what appear to be arbitrary distinctions among business and activities in the state of Michigan that lack a rational basis."
According to the Justice Department, the statement of interest is part of U.S. Attorney General William Barr’s previously announced initiative to review "state and local policies to ensure that civil liberties are protected during the COVID-19 pandemic."
...
The suit was brought by Signature Sotheby’s International Realty Inc., Executive Property Maintenance, Intraco Corporation Inc., Hillsdale Jewelers, Casite Intraco LLC, Shortt Dental, and Midwest Carwash Association."

As far as I can tell, all remaining PA counties move into yellow on June 5th, despite several not even coming close to the number of new cases they were told to have to move to the next phase.
God, why did PA elect such a useless balding bitch for a governor? My area's still yellow, but I can drive two counties over and be in a green area. I just want to be free again and look for employment. Is that too hard to ask for!?

I am just so tired of it already. The stupid riots caused just about everything that was still open to temporaily close. Everything is boarded up and locked down. Some places won't be opening as planned now because of looting.

Tom Wolf was spotted at a 500 man protest with no mask, not social distancing, and not following HIS OWN GODDAMN RULES. If you can't be assed to follow your own guidelines, then why bother with them in the first place!?

Got an email from my university saying they're planning on doing in-person in the fall with as-of-yet uncertain "social distancing" protocols. Wonder how they're supposed to accommodate large sections, especially for tests. Great job laying off professors and thus having fewer ones available to teach sections than normal.

My school doesn't require on-campus housing for any year, but I wonder what's going to happen at schools that require it. Are they going to have to admit it's all a scam to make more money? I mean, for starters, college dorms should be single regardless of whether there's a secondary flu going around.

At least I'm not as affected by this because I'm going to be commuting next year, and I already took all the popular/lower-level courses and all I have left are upper-level CS and Math ones for the remaining few who didn't drop out of the majors.

Things are back to a semblance of normalcy where I am. People are finally going out to shops and starting to spend money in non essential shops. Starting to pump money into the local economy here. Two weeks ago shops were getting their first paying customers at 3pm, it's better now, though they also close earlier as well.

Really feel bad for those in the US who had their places smashed up. Could have been on the cusp of opening up and slowly undoing some of the grave economic damage there. It's now worse because of morons and criminals.

Gyms, hair salons, schools, and summer camps are allowed to re-open now in CA... but LA seems to always be the last to roll out the stuff since we're a hotspot. I'm very much looking forwards to the gyms. They also released some guidelines for the film industry to re-open... although they're pretty extreme and will cost productions $$, and we're not sure how that'll work.

Everyone is still working from home as much as possible though. And protests and curfew are a massive disruption. I think the curfew got declared unconstitutional though, so that's nice. Now we can go hunting looters....

The reopening here in ohio continues to progress smoothly, so far no freakouts. Local media posted a story about deaths being way overestimated and misreported nationwide in nursing homes, which signals to me that we are past the crisis and the pressure to return to normalcy is growing stronger (and that the media is feeling the economic pressure). Amusement and water parks and casinos will open in 2 weeks.

The mask requirements for work are annoying as fuck. My ears are still red and sore from those stupid elastic straps and the sweat of non-cooled buildings in 90F heat. And our employer is not supplying masks, so people are stuck getting them on their own. This means most of us are still wearing the same mask for 2 months, so we are mostly wearing them around our chins because fuck getting a lung infection. General consensus is that the lockdowns are unnecessary, traffic has returned to normal, I noticed the guys working at the gas station didnt have masks on, same with many at the local meijer.

It should be mentioned that Cedar Point, Kings Island, and some other place I can't recall had to threaten to sue the state because they still had no timeline or guidelines and DeWine caved the next day.

I really hope cities and states don't try to pull bullshit again over the fall/winter. Some shitlib friends were saying cedar point should be closed indefinitely because it's a super cereal deadly pandemic and it's impossible to social distsnce or limit entry. Yeah, it's SERIOUS and DEADLY but not enough for you dickheads to wear masks yourselves. Fucking hypocrites

I hope not as well. I cant imagine that DeWine will stay in office if he tries. Businesses are pissed, and if they all just go "well dewine says you cant have jobs so youre all fired" he'll capitulate so he doesnt lose all his campaign contributions. Or they'll all open anyway and dare him to try shutting down the whole state at once, which he knows he doesnt have the manpower to do.

People praise dewine, and I agree some of what he has done is fantastic, but it also seems like you have to constantly twist his arm HARD to wake him up to reality, and he would simply leave the lockdowns as is until someone complained otherwise. Similar to his anti-union bill, it took, what, 2 or 3 separate votes to hammer into his head ohioans dont want a right to work state? And even then the third vote only worked because of the landslide opposition to it.

I feel he would love to lock down for a year + if he was allowed, but like many, hes finding out the hard way the citizens wont listen to him forever.

Given that at one of the press conferences in May Husted was talking about maybe having to shut things down again I have no doubt that DeWine would have loved to lock things down longer. Or Actin's crazy ass. We're also talking about someone bound and determined to force Red Flag laws into the state, and no one, other than his buddy Kasich really wants that. I don't think being in touch with what Ohioans want is a thing DeWine does.

It makes me wonder if another republican will uproot him. A lot of DeWine's positive attitudes from citizens could easily be turned against him by pointing out how unwilling Mike "milquetoast" DeWine is to do anything unless instructed to do so.

I doubt it, I've read that DeWine doesn't intend to run again in 2022, but they'll push Husted and they've been laying the ground work for him. It would make sense, given how he's been acting, he's burned a tremendous amount of good will. I assume Husted will mostly be another party establishment cuck, just younger than DeWine and less lizard person than Kasich, but otherwise the same. Pisses me off, we had momentum for Constitutional Carry, until that ass in Dayton.

Things are opening up. But until next pay day my business will be sunk. It's also fucking tiring that most of my customers are from home delivery. My coverage might be small but almost all people even as far as living in the same block as my business wants me to deliver their orders to them and not just pick it up like a normal human would. People don't want to go out for a walk nowadays and I think that will be the norm for a few more weeks. Get some exercise people! Jesus!
