While we don’t have a vaccine for AIDS, we HAVE been able to mitigate it to the point where people with HIV can live full normal lives. That’s still an accomplishment.

Edit: also coronavirus is not HIV, they’re drastically different, so being able to develop a vaccine for coronavirus in 16 years and not being able to develop one for AIDS in 37 is an apples to oranges comparison.

You need to take into consideration how each vaccinated status pertains to the age of the person. If this data was published early June, and it's been >14 days since a person had the 2nd dose of a vaccine, that would imply that the person would be older (or in a vulnerable group), since they had received the 2nd dose earlier. So of course you would still expect people in that group to die more, since it's been pointed out many times now that no vaccine is foolproof. And likewise there is the implication that someone in the unvaccinated group is very likely younger (or at least feels like they are healthy enough to not require it). The fact that unvaccinated, younger people are dying almost at the same rate as vaccinated older people, who have a certain level of immunity from just a single dose, only goes to show how much more deadly the pajeet variant is.

Here is another study from Israel showing how the vaccine cuts death. The numbers (deaths + the per 100,000 incidence) on the left is unvaccinated, right is vaccinated.

They used a part of HIV to make the vaccine, so people were developing antibodies against it. ELISA testing (which tests for antibodies) picked them up and gave them false positives for HIV, so yeah that vaccine had to be pulled.

We can easily make HIV antibodies with a vaccine. The problem remains of making antibodies that are actually useful. I think the most effective HIV vaccine to date has like 33% efficacy or something around there.

Now, the UK (like other countries) started their vaccine response by vaccinating healthcare workers first and then the elderly after that, moving down in age with the rollout. The patient cohort of those who have had two doses right now mostly consists of those in the >50 age group.

Who would be the least likely to mount an effective immune response against the vaccine? Well, it's that age group, and in particular people over 70. If you can't mount an effective immune response against the vaccine, how well do you think you'll do against COVID-19 when you actually get it?

Unfortunately, medical mysteries who were born with bricks for brains never apply actual critical thinking or have any ability to learn anything about medicine, so all they have to go on is their own biases. And that is you.
