Remember when you were in high school and there was that group of weirdos who defined themselves entirely by things they weren’t? “Oh you like X music? That’s so conformist, I therefore hate X music though I don’t think I ever listened to it”. They had no real identity of their own, and their entire core of being was rejecting everything that the people they didn’t like stood for. These antivax weirdos are exactly the same. @Hollywood Hulk Hogan could walk up to one of them and say “diet and exercise would really help you out” and the likes of @Kornula would eat a pound of raw bacon in his bed just to spite him.

They like to couch their contrarianism with a thin veneer of intellectualism. Think, “oh you sheeple agreeing with China Fauci, I’m a free thunker” or something. The true irony is that they are exactly as intellectually bankrupt as those they claim to hate, but on the opposite end of the spectrum. Instead of blindly agreeing with everything “the elites” say, they blindly disagree. Fauci could come out saying that drinking lots of water is good and @Kornula would literally eat a box of Windsor salt in response. My personal theory: they can’t help it. It’s a weird manifestation of the sunken cost fallacy, and to break out of it now is utterly unthinkable for them. To admit they were stupid about Covid or Trump or anything is impossible and would likely drive them to suicide from the cognitive dissonance.

Those are the people who have -and are dying from it; people with compromised immune systems from being fat, lazy and old. You can even be old and..get this.. healthy. Covid is a strain of the flu family..we have been building up "herd immunity" from it from day one. There is no reason to panic. It is not the Bubonic Plague. People are getting it and recovering a a much higher rate than dying from it. Less and less people every day are dying from it (percentage wise) Please stop using the actual death toll number.. it is irreelvant. The percentages is what matters.
