I'm not surprised that Sargon (assuming that is him) browses /cow/. He comes off as the kind who's butt-buddies with some of the folks there.

And if they plan mass flaggings against KF, then they better fucking back that threat up. Otherwise they're just blowing it from their ass like everything else they post. The only reason no one's doxed them (outside of a stray lolcow or two) is that it's a Chan board. Anywhere else and they'd be fucked.

That's not him, they changed "Anonymous" to "Sargon" and changed "Lolcows" to "Sargon of Akkad" because their big on skeptic drama now. A while back they went to war on Vee (romanian sargon bootlicker) when Vee made videos trying to bait them and prove how not butthurt at Jim/Metokur him and Soybean were.

It seems the community is much more active on julay.world:

And it's still relatively dead, meaning there's now two dead /cow/ boards. Unless 8kun can regain its base over the coming months (which may be possible, but will also take awhile).

Regardless, I will always treasure the infamous gooftroop thread for giving me the funniest comment I will never be allowed to say.

Well, the decade-long war between the cwckispergs and the /cow/fags died this year. With julay.world closing and no apparent bunker existing (unless threadless lolcow Mark decides to roll one out for no one to use), there is no more /cow/! Unless I am mistaken here.

And that is actually kinda sad. I never really took to using the cwckiforums and adapted to KF a bit later. /cow/ had a distinct community early on, but after a series of bad owners it just sorta fizzled and flickered.

Personally, my favorite iteration of /cow/ was 789chan. That was a good community. We had a lot of fun and were autistic enough to have several threads on things such as a photo of Chris and Bob at Kroger's together eating Hungryman dinners. "Why are they eating them there?" "Did the hoard push them out of the house?" "Do they have microwaves at all Krogers?" We could go on, but it was all just shitposty good fun. It was even a proving ground for future lolcows such as Autphag, Mike Hirtes, and Jenffer A Jay. We even had some pet cows who would show up, Rika being one of them.

But infighting and drama set in, and people began to get more focused on using tools like tinychat than talking about cows. So content sorta started to dry up and people began to focus on other things other than the purpose. So things that shoulda been a blip in the road became the things that are recognized as the site's killers.

These sites don't last. They just don't. When the purpose of the site grows into connected areas, the community will grow and become more robust. When the purpose of the site expands to areas completely unrelated, then the identity of the site becomes fractured and the general tone becomes almost incoherent and inconsistent. What made it special to the community just becomes a part of the noise. Then there is nothing left on the site for the community, and the people just sort of move on and events that should be blips in the road become catastrophic.

I am going to miss /cow/, even though I barely visited it in the past 4 years. It was nice while it lasted. But life goes on and from the perspective of being a generally curious person, it will be interesting to see what happens next.

Was there any beef between /cow/ and KF? I always assumed all /cow/posters were farmers.

Since you're a new register, I will assume you don't know much about the history of this board or /cow/. Sorry if someof what I say here is already known.

Way back in the day, over a decade ago, Kiwi Farms was named the cwckiforums. The cwckiforums was a webforum for people to go to so they could ask one another about what would happen if Chris-Chan shit his pants or if he finally got a hold of that dastardly Clyde Cash. It was made, basically, because the forum's original owner @champthom wanted to create a containment for the people flooding onto the cwcki (which is a wiki dedicated to Chris-Chan) would just stop shitting up the user talk pages with senseless and retarded bullshit. All the while, there were several iterations of /cow/, which began with the /kkk/, a board hosted by @kopyboat, a lolcow in his own right, but someone who has been useful in some way throughout Christory, but that's neither here nor there. There have been several versions of /cow/ though, one even run by @space pirate! One by @JEWS, but none of that matters either.

So anyway, even from the beginning, the cwckispergs and the /cow/fags always had some degree of bad blood. People tried to categorize it as having to do with one side enjoying the trolling aspects more and wanting to get involved or being more a-loggy, and the other taking things too serious and wanting to just document a bunch of boring shit. Really, there wasn't much rhyme or reason to it, it was what it was, but /cow/ was always more harsh and frankly, more provocative towards cwckiforums and would often use the fact that cwckiforums users had usernames attached to them as a way to aggregate embarrassing posts and sometimes dox (even though doxing wasn't really "in-style" at the time). /cow/ was the first one to move beyond Chris and eventually enough users motivated the same change to take place here. That was about the time @champthom stepped down and gave control of the forum to @Null.

The rivalry seemed to simmer down around this time. I believe its because /cow/ users began to migrate to KF because of the slick new xenforo @Null installed. Also, /cow/ always was rudderless and needed continuity. Continuity is one thing @Null did grant this community, at least in the form of administration. Eventually, Deagle Nation occurred and the Kiwi Farms name was born from a misinterpretation of the cwckiforums name.

If you're referring to the stuff that happened more recently, most of the beef stemming from the (one sided, I may add) feud came from banned users of the site or those trying to get a rise out of us, which inevitably ended with either the poster being called out or us making fun at the piss poor attempt.

I've got something to say on this.

I wouldn't say there's been "beef" between the two but the relationship between the two goes back some ways.

When I first started the forums, I used /cwc/ and /cow/ as a bell weather in terms of how our forums were being perceived - I wanted some form of legitimacy. This lead to the "/cwc/ rule" - people constantly misunderstood what this rule was, the basic idea is that you were such a fuck up that they could make a huge thread on you on /cow/, that indicated that you were breaking rules about sperging anyways. It was a poor moderation tool that was eventually stopped when we became more efficient at moderation.

I stopped giving a shit, and it took me a while, when I started noticing a change. When the forums first started, threads would say stuff like "CWCki Forums is just too spergy" without any evidence - these were people who just assumed it must be spergy or saw some screenshot and assumed the entire forum was full of spergs. Over time though, it became clear that people were posting about specific forum policies, which meant they spent some time of the forum, to complaining about certain staff members which indicated to me that these were people who were probably banned. At that point, it made no sense to try to appeal to people who were clearly banned from the forums, sometimes for obvious reasons (I recall one guy got banned for posting "JULAY" over and over in several threads, then posted on /cwc/ on how unfair the CWCki Forums are).

I'll also say that with all the problems, the ratings system solved a lot of the issues with people taking screenshots of dumb posts. I haven't been on /cow/ in years, but I'm guessing it'd be difficult. I'm sure people still say dumb things, but at least with ratings you know that someone saying something dumb doesn't carry the same weight as something well thought out.

I was adamantly opposed to the lolcow forum at first - my personally motivation would that that the forum towards general discussion, as I had seen in PVCC. But having the lolcow forum made us competitive with /cow/ and it was what the people wanted.
