Unpopular opinion but stylized sexy cartoon clothes do not translate well to live action. They make the live action look like a porn parody of the original. Even good-faith costume designers need to come up with sexy alternatives for actually existing materials and human features and proportions.
That's to be expected, but the statement also makes it sound like she's also not going to wear the color-coded clothes that she's famous for. As long as she has somewhere in her wardrobe yellow clothes, her red coat, and a hairband, even if she's not showing off her midriff and legs, we'll still know at a glance it's supposed to be her instead of taking other characters' word for it.

Sure, I'm not asking for a perfect replica of her costume, I don't want the actors to look like they're cosplaying like in that fanfilm, but Faye in live-action should dress sexy because it's part of the character.
If Man-Faye and actual women cosplayers could do it...
You’re not entirely wrong, I’ve never seen a Faye cosplayer perfectly pull off the costume without it looking somewhat goofy, so changing it somewhat is fine, but it should still be sexy.
This is why Western producers should never be allowed to "adapt" anything involving anime. The result is always a disaster.
