If anyone's still interested in mining cringe and creeps on craigslist personals, it's back in the form of Doublelist. It's basically the CL personals on its own dedicated site. It's new though so it doesn't have all the cities CL did. You have to make an account to actually see the ads, but I just used a throwaway one. I have a good feeling there will be lots more weirdos as more find out about it. Sometimes the site goes down for a bit though.

This is about the dumbest thing I've seen in a while. This guy has tried this scam before but now I have a screenshot.

The key thing here is that Michigan has a 10c can/bottle deposit. You return it, you get 10 cents. This guy wants you to pick up cans all day (or bring yours from home) and sell them to him for half their value. At which point he goes to Wal-Mart or literally any gas station or store and gets the 10c deposit.

Sure he paid you half so he's really only getting 5c each, but you did all the work, delivered the cans, and took a 50% loss on top of it too. I really hope nobody falls for this.

I don't know if anyone who'd be collecting cans for money wouldn't know the amount they'd get for them though, so I can't imagine they thought this scam through very well.

So I've been checking out this site for a couple of weeks now but haven't found anything notable but for a few exceptions like this guy, who appears to be a spambot created by mixing MRI scans taken from Jace and a bunch of stillborn lab rats used for cancer research:

And then supercar douchebag, who's actually a returning veteran from Craigslist and a particularly interesting one at that! This guy has been posting ads like this almost since I started trawling CL for content to post here, which makes the "recently single" part especially funny. This particular rendition is so transparent it almost doesn't require comment:

All the photos he uses are low-res thumbnails pulled from GIS and it goes without saying that anyone who could afford such a car wouldn't need to beg online for a date, so I think his master plan is (as you might expect) to rent one and get photos of himself with an attractive young woman to look cool on the online. If that sounds improbable remember that he could get a fuckton of mileage out of such photos if he planned to deceive girls on Tinder, or even if he just wanted to front to his friends on IG/FB. But at least blondes will be safe.

Doublelist is a mixed bag. Requiring an account and filtering mature language (in an effort to be more approachable and above board than its predecessor naturally deters a lot of the weirdos who were attracted to CL's public profile and ease of access. It needs time to grow so they'll hear about it and come home. So far it's mostly fags (which is, of course, completely unsurprising).

Assuming it survives, that is.
