Im Absolutely loving this game. Its a weird mix between htiman and deus ex as you go through levels trying to kill a target and getting out alive. The big selling point being the abhorrent visuals and sound track, reminds me of pioletredsun's music in a weird way. Has anyone else played this game? If so what are your thoughts? Its still in early access so there are some problems here and there.
I havent seen many places discuss this game so i was wondering if any other Kiwi's have played it

I haven't played it, but it looks like something the developer of Space Funeral could make.

How exactly are headaches a selling point?
Its got solid gameplay as well. Also the controls are odd as well.
R is your interact key and to reload you have to hold the right click and pull your mouse back. Sounds odd but it feels great

Looks like someone shoved LSD the dream emulator, and desu ex into a blender.
It plays alot like Deus ex. Especially in the sense you dont have alot of health and enemies can tear through you. Deus ex with some OG rainbow six mixed in there

I keep seeing this, and it looks interesting. It looks deliberately off-putting but it also tries to scratch that immersive sim itch which too few games, even indie titles, try to do today. Would like to try it myself at some point.

Also apparently it got David Jaffe into a tizzy for whatever reason but I'm not big on the details.

I absolutely LOVE the feel and tone of this game, but I can't quite get past the visuals of it. As some have said, it's more cyberpunk than 2077.

I had to buy this after seeing Vincent Vinesauce play it. He couldnt figure it out but described the music as "anxiety." Once you realize theres speed tech like rocket jumping and bunny hopping strafe jumps it opens up the levels even more.
The "divine light" system is bullshit. Im considering restarting my entire save so i can get the rocket launcher hidden on level 1 for the mall level later. If you die once, certain doors are locked until you complete more levels that have new weapons behind them.
The ranking system is also completely unexplained. I dont know what constitutes an A rank vs C. but then again for a long time i just thought a C rank was some meat worm part of the interface so i guess it doesnt matter.
The spookiest shit is the level with the CEO who is a meat cube. That level has a bunch of mind fuck fake passages and weird enemies who warp your perspective.
Its got a more biting anti corporation and consumption theme than Cyberpunk. Some levels feature Funko pop obsessed losers. And it just got minigame fishing and stocks added.
New levels are still being added. Its a top notch early access if you love weird shit.

Its got solid gameplay as well. Also the controls are odd as well.

And the firing sound pitches down as you empty your clip so you always know when youre running low. It just works.

Earlier I mentioned that David Jaffe was kicking up some drama with fans of the game. I posted this in the David Jaffe Has Nothing to Do thread, but it's just as relevant here I think.

So here's something people on here have missed.

Recently, a game called Cruelty Squad has been making the rounds. It's an immersive sim with an incredibly off-putting aesthetic, and intentionally so. David Jaffe decided to give it a shot, he didn't like it, and wanted to get a refund.

People were upset by this, partially because the general consensus is that Cruelty Squad is quite good once you adapt to its extreme visuals and partially because they see it as bad form for someone as big as Jaffe to be publicly shitting on an indie project such as this. That doesn't matter, people dislike games all the time. Jaffe however wasn't taking the blowback very well.

(No, I don't know why the second archive is in another language. Never used it until now)

All of this happened on March 2nd, and eventually people forgot about it and went back to playing the game. Then out of nowhere yesterday, Jaffe decides to tweet about the game again bitching about the fanbase and why they'll prevent him from ever trying it again.

Why Jaffe decided to open himself up to more arguing is beyond me, besides perhaps the fact it's made him slightly more relevant than he's ever been in recent years, but if you look at the replies, you'll find this.

That would be the developer of Cruelty Squad, referencing an earlier response Jaffe made to them promising he would buy the game again and try it out with an open mind. So Jaffe is not only blaming the fanbase for not allowing him to enjoy the game, he also broke his word to the actual developer that he would try it out again.

If he just didn't like the game, that'd be one thing, but Jaffe just can't let the disagreements go and it's becoming increasingly pathetic.

TL:biggrin:R, Jaffe doesn't like it, fans complain, he doubles down, eventually promises to the developer that he would try it again with an open mind only to backpedal on that and blames the fans for it.

I guess he wanted to make an outrage video to collect some youtube ad money
Also i think he was trying to go after the steam reviews of the game calling most of the reviews ' troll reviews' After the dev asked people to review the game after they played it
Also Its funny david looks exactly like a soy wojack

Bruh this game is so fuckin' good

It's like a mix of Hitman, Rainbow Six (The early good ones) and speedball cocaine. The dev is chill as fuck and the discord is full of people theorizing on all the crazy bullshit that this world has to offer, like the true form of Gorbino (Which is still being hotly debated) and much more.

The game is a perfect Hydian critique of Goblino Amergia (half joking)
