Reading back through the Regina emails, I was surprised to find out that Christian knew who Franz Kafka and that he had been taught Metamorphosis in high school. Kafka seems like an author that's a little bit above Chris's level seeing as he was reading Goosebumps books on a regular basis in 12th grade so it was weird seeing him recognize the name.

Chris knows a bunch of random things. I think his brain recognizes a great deal of information, but part of what makes him so incompetent and gullible is how he either cannot or refuses to connect dots. If you look at his usage of words, you'll see that his vocabulary is really colorful but he doesn't know how to actively apply them in a sentence; probably because his autism prevents him from being able to decipher context clues.

Reading through the email, I'm convinced he understood it. At no point does Regina feed Chris the information to make up a response as detailed as this; he just says he read a lot of Kafka and Chris took it from there. Especially the interpretation Chris holds from it would be something that no doubt had an emotional impact on him. Whether it's a memory of what his teacher told him or if he actually deduced it on his own, doesn't really matter. But Chris isn't the kind of person to Google something. If he didn't know who Kafka was, he would have ignored it or said so.

I have read Franz Kafka a bit in High School; we read "Metamorphasis". I enjoyed the comparisons between the busy salesman life he had, and what it would feel like to be a bug; so miniscule in life, with a lot of people stepping on you here and there.

It's possibly the most interesting element of Chris. He's a spectacularly boring person most of the time, but the tangents his mind goes off on when he's processing information, particularly in new and unfamiliar situations is fascinating because you just don't know what he's going to come out with.

Jackie had him watch it. Also Pink Flamingos. They are early on in the Jackie e-mails. He also said he was grossed out but okay with the Hollywood magic when it came to the violence. Jackie corrected him when it came to the animals which he quickly ignored.

I suspect -- to him --

* all antagonists are Homo Twolls
* every conflict is Twolls Oppressing autists

So every movie that ever was -- from Citizen Kane to the latest Adam Sandler masterpieceoshit -- is just a remake of Kick the Austistic II: CWClectric Boogaloo
