So, I've noticed that several people have run play by post RPGs in the forums. I created this thread to serve as a meeting place to discuss them, offer suggestions and criticisms, and suggest and collaborate on scenarios and games to play.
Sure. I'll need a little more time to post it, and I think I'll run it with a slightly modified simple version of GURPS.Need an ex-cook turned bounty hunter with a pet sock puppet & an unnatural hatred for Canada?

There's an online site for dice rolls that works fairly well, I'll link to it.(lol) I'm in. I gotta find a huge bag of d6's if we're playing GURPS though.

Now, let me set the scene.
Some time in the not too distant future: the cries echo up from the street. "Normalfag!". The swarm descends on a survivor and pulls him down. You watch from the roof of the building you're currently holed up in. The mass of autists around the survivor suddenly dissipates, and his injured form is left in the street. He shudders, gets up, and looks around. "Hey, who wants to rea my sonic fan fic?". He's one of them now.
Richmond has been like this for two weeks, maybe more. The autist plague came out of nowhere, turning perfectly normal people into the shambling, greasy haired creatures that now swarm the streets. A few safe zones have been established, one of which you're currently trying to get to. You don't know if you'll make it.
Okay, this game will be awesome. Hopefully.Thirteen hundred hours. Magazine check everyone.
I gaze out through my binos from the rooftop at the chaos on the streets. No biggie. My team has this. The five of us swarm down the stairs in perfect formation. The frontman on point smashes the Autistics lurking in the corners with 12 gauge buckshot. CQC motherfuckers. We surge down onto the street on a tight group. Corner check as we hit the bottom floor. Moving as a group, we close on the target building. I see a cluster of Autistic zombies in the way. I rip a frag grenade loose from my body armor and ready my chainsword...
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
It begins.
I'm currently running one (which may have run out of steam), and I have several games planned out.
Let me just run one by you, Left 4 Autism. Basically, a lolcow themed zombie apocalypse. Survive roving packs of mutant autists, save survivors, and uncover the truth behind the autism apocalypse. And yes, some of our favorite lowcows will appear as bosses.
Alright, so I kind I have a problem. I'm not sure what game system to run this on. I have a basic set of GURPS rules, but GURPS looks really complex. Does anyone know any other systems, I'm really new at this.

Ok, Savage Worlds looks interesting. Is there like a free light rule sheet or something so that we can get the basics of it?GURPS is a great system but it leans towards the crunchy side. Why not take a look into Savage Worlds.
I will look around a bit, but you can buy the digest edition of the core book for 8 bucks.Ok, Savage Worlds looks interesting. Is there like a free light rule sheet or something so that we can get the basics of it?

I don't know if I like the automatic success for imagination but I do like rewarding imagination and intuitive. I think a good GM should encourage this kind of thinking rather than the rules say you can't do this smart and awesome thing. I'm down for any game you run.OK, thanks.
The one thing I don't get about GURPS is how skills are supposed to work. If only I knew how to do that, I could kludge together a simple version to use.
The thing about how I want to play this as a GM is I hate math. I really hate math. And I also hate autistic rules that demand that you follow them precisely. So, here's how I'm going to make this work. Focus on creativity instead of boring skill checks. Let's say you're in an alleyway with a locked door. You need to open the door. There's a bunch of alley crap in the alley (garbage cans, large boards, stuff like that). Now, you could do a strength check to kick open the door or pick the lock or whatever. Or, you could just use the large boards as an improvised battering ram, which is an automatic success. If you can improvise something creative (but still somewhat believable, no turning balsa wood and pantyhose into a helicopter), it's an automatic success.
