Ok, so, our primary archive of Chris videos on youtube, TheCWCvilleLibrary got taken down. @Shiny Marshtomp is the curator of the channel. She's got a big backup, I think.

A few weeks ago, she mentioned to me that a few videos got flagged for content, but I didn't really take it too seriously at the time. I figured we'd lose a few videos and just reupload them later. I started to archive the videos, just in case.

It turned out I was wrong, the entire channel got taken down. So now we need to rebuild.

Edit (not really): Oh, as I was writing this, someone already made an archive. So whoever made that, thank you very much.

So, now that the immediate crisis is gone, this thread can be used for coordinating archiving content. (The torrent on that page only includes a few videos, so we might want to make a torrent.) Also any missing video requests can go here too.

Double edit: Ok, so, we're setting up torrents of Chris' videos so there will be long-term archives. I'm doing the torrents in chunks based on this article. I'd encourage everyone to take a look at the posts where there are missing videos, see if you have them. Or if there's a torrent ready, it's great if people can seed.

I would like to thank @Marvin, @John Daker and @yawning sneasel for getting this shit fixed for movie night. However, we now need to just get the long term solution out of the way here.

@John Daker has kindly provided an archive we can use to download the videos, and it also has a torrent.

This also means someone has to go into the CWCv-pedia and fix up the now dead links in some way, shape or form. That means either reuploading, creating another CWCville Library, or whatever suits your fancy. All the videos are in the archive and can be downloaded, so people just need to just do the clean up.

I'm thinking our best option is to find an alternative to YouTube for the CWCville library channel. Possibly liveleak? They happily feature beheadings and car accidents, I don't think they would object too strongly to Chris content.

I think it depends on how many videos are videos Chris himself made, versus just phone calls. We might need to host the phone calls elsewhere, but Chris' own videos can go back up on youtube. Maybe preemptively contact support to make sure they're on the up-and-up.

(The thinking is that they might say the phone calls are cyberbullying or some nonsense. But the stuff Chris made himself is probably OK.)

Edit: The reason I say "how many videos...", is that if most of the videos are phone calls, then it's not really worth it to split the collection across two sites. But if most of the videos are Chris' original content, then it might be useful to put those videos on youtube (and keep the phone calls elsewhere), just because youtube's widely supported.

The problem with it is that I don't think I can use liveleaks for movie night stuff. I mean, we're not going to watch chris-chan videosalways on there, but still. It does have that set back.

It normally gives the reason for the flagging on the account. So @Shiny Marshtomp or whoever else has access to the channel could check.

Incidentally, this means that about 80% of the videos Chris himself has labelled "My Personal Videos" are now dead, because he just linked from the Cwcville Library for a lot of them. Some of his old channels are still active, if this helps. I doubt Chris would be willing to form an alliance, though.

I have no idea how to link to videos and other content that aren't on YouTube. I just use the template like the unthinking computer illiterate I am. I don't know how to use this archive.

I can fix that. I can just download the videos themselves and when we have to use them for whatever reason, I can use ustream or something.

go on edf and ask Z if its cool, but i don't think he'll have a problem with it, you'll need to convert the vids to webm to be able to upload them to ED

How about just using pornhub? Some of Chris's videos are already split to there for obvious reasons.
