I watched the teaser three times, got goosebumps all three times (it's the music, honestly lol), and I still can't believe it. No fucking way. They're doing this? And with actual puppetry?

Of all the things to jump onto the nostalgia bandwagon, I never expected this. My body's not ready for it, and I don't think it ever will be. I'm stoked.

Aw man, if Aughra shows up here, who're they going to get to replace Billie Whitelaw? I can't think of anyone in particular who'd be good for the role.

This shows great promise. Hopefully it will be good. Samurai jack season 5 gave me hope for things like this and hopefully this prequel series has the same intrigue as the original 1982 film did.

So has anyone seen the new show yet? I've started with the first two episodes and are so far so good but seem to be changing origins around a little bit but I expected that since comics usually aren't considered canon these days.

Watched the entire thing yesterday.
Really really really worth every second to watch. You can see every bit of work that was done and Henson would have been proud.
I do think Netflix should not have this as a kid's series though. While the movie was dark there's a lot of violence in the series. The cage scene was pretty out there but even worse was that a character then goes over the scene in detail.

So I'm a huge fan of dark 80s-90s childrens films so I took this to a duck in water. I'm onto the 7th Episode and wow the practical effects get really intense, the CGI stands out but they've tried so hard to blend in the puppeteers and the 3D models. The story is interesting, but highly conspiring and I feel like you will have a better time watching the prequels first then watching the originals. Also I think the puppeter for dabchick, Barnaby Dixon, had a hand (haha) in the puppet show.

One thing I didn't quite like is the repetitive scenes in the dream fasting, as if the films were created to be released every couple of weeks, rather than in a huge lump.

Highly recommended, and hope that it brings in a new era of puppet films with the new technology of today and the old methods.

Watched the first season and damn that was awesome 💗💗
Love the characters, the story & the world. Like in the movie everything is alive. There are so many different creatures but it never feels like it's too much. Can't wait for season 2.

9/10 dark crystals

Also the making-of is interesting. They put SO much work into AOR.

Watched the 1st episode and I am in love! It looks fantastic and I can't wait to see the rest of it. It is so nice to see this kind of puppetry put to good use again. They really did capture the feel of the original film, and since it is a 10 episode show, it has the benefit of being able to take its time and focus on different characters at a time, giving it kind of a Game of Thrones type of feel.

Also, I have great joy hearing Mark Hamill's voice come out of a Skeksis, and my God, Simon Pegg's voice for the Chamberlain is so on point, it is like he's been practicing since he saw the movie as a kid.

Finished the first season.

What are they going to do next, seeing that they've killed all the important new characters? I'm sure the next season will be about the Garthim destroying the Gelfing-Arathim Alliance and the Darkening. I do hope they expand on the lore by going further back in the history. Also do you guys think they'll ever show the non-corrupted Skeksis character models? They seem really interesting in-lore.

I was surprised, apparently SkekUng (The Garthim Master who was also called General) isn't SkekVar, the AOR General. I do wonder when he will show up along with the other unseen Skeksis that were mentioned.

Also Hunter best character design. MORE SKEKMAL! SKEKMAL!

I also binged this last week.

I love it. Captures the delightfully grotesque nature of the original. Hot.
