building on that point, i don't enjoy eating in front of others or in public places, and i know plenty of others who are seriously uncomfortable about it, so it wouldn't surprise me at all that phil's blood is boiling while leanna has the camera on him in front of her mom when he's trying to eat a damn sandwich. Especially with phil's terrible diet and the foods he eats, i wouldn't be surprised if her nagging and recording completely ruined the joy his brain would have expected from all that salt, fat, and carbs.

he's so visibly uncomfortable and vulnerable in these videos in comparison to his tough guy youtube persona.

tbf to leanna, he almost literally lives his life through both video and still camera, telling us about every inane detail because he has no one to talk to (besides her, john, and howard at one point) so it'd be weird to suddenly have a problem with recording a short video while eating

When looking at the other vlogs I stumbled upon this piece of gold which anyone who hasn't watched yet should. It's memory lane. It's when for Leanna's birthday, DSP took her to the local arcade a week later as a present. He then played all the games, then for their birthday dinner took her to the Arcade's diner. This is the same arcade he took her for the anniversary. As you can see she's overjoyed. Anyone who knows DSP's arcade history knows he did it for himself. This was when they were living together, so when Leanna started to get sick of him as she had to be around him all the time.

You may remember the 'fad' in the 2000s of "debt consolidation", AKA getting a new huge loan from a company with a lower interest rate than all your current debts, and it being used to pay them all off. The con was of course the loan took longer to pay off & cost you more overall, but at least you didn't go bankrupt.
DSP noted that for 2 years the value of the WA condo (it's not a house per se, since it's part of a triplex, a terraced house at best) went up, and his plan was to wait 2 more years for it to keep going up in value, then he can remortgage it and use that extra cash to pay off his other debts (supposedly 2 business loans, various credit cards, I doubt it would be enough to deal with the CT condo) and then he'd be in a better financial situation. Longer & more overall debt to pay off, but a lower monthly cost he could handle in the wake of YouTube adpocalypse etc.

HOWEVER I forget when this was, I want to say a recent Hate Live Q&A session at the end of the stream, but someone asked about the status of the WA 'house'. DSP noted that for this last year the value had NOT gone up, merely stayed about the same. So DSP extended this plan to wait THREE more years before getting a new mortgage. If the WA property doesn't go up or even goes down in value, he seems to have no idea what to do.

Isn't this the same idea he had for the condo in Connecticut, at least as far as hanging onto it because the value was going up. Then it suddenly crashed and he is where he is today. It is kinda fascinating all his flaws playing video games are just a microcosm of his flaws as a human being. Something backfired and fucked him over, lets do the same thing again. Oh shit it happened again, not his fault nothing he could do.

The Metroid game footage was someone complaining about the game telling players what was on the screen for a better portion of the games dialog. I figured I'd combine that with footage of DSP doing the same thing, since that's one of my big complaints with his playthroughs.

Its funny, he once said he wants to live in wa cause its a gaming central. Doesnt go to events, doesnt do colabs, doesnt EVEN leave his house... totally worth it.

Sorry I should have clarified. When he moved to Washington he would eat out every week and eat a shrimp, lobster or crab meal. This went on every week basically until he got gout. There is evidence on instagram. Back in CT he seemed to live more frugally even though he was making more money. I think a lot of the excess spending on expensive meals and other things was to impress Panda Lee. Like their expensive hotel staycation in 2016 where he rented the sub pop suite and had no idea that record label or that Nirvana was on it. He spent whatever money to stay in an expensive hotel 40 min from his house so him and Panda lee would be near Pokestops.

This is one point of contention for me in the world of DSP... Leanna.

Before they broke up it was obvious that the vast majority of people hated her or just criticized her for various things. Then they broke up and suddenly its like she's the virgin mary:

Bullshit. Although its impossible to know for sure the private discussions between her and DSP I'm calling bullshit. She obviously had a huge part in his spending and I think if you can't see that from the way she acted sometimes (like talking shit about tertiary education) then you probably need to take a more critical look at her. She's not beyond criticism and she obviously played a role one way or another.

I think people feel bad for her in comparison to Phil. Things like the hospital vlog and all.

Phil is bad with money at the end of the day. I don't think she would have had to put much pressure on Phil to spend more, but I'm sure she didn't help.

Besides Phil being able to go back to Hungry Man and fast food now, I'm not sure Panda Lee ever made him spend that much more money than he does now.

Outside of token efforts like that cheap ring and they staycation, I can't think of much Phil spent on her that wasn't to his benefit as well (dinners and the like).

Panda seems like an insufferable bitch most of the time she's in front of the camera especially in earlier videos. But to be fair that's probably not uncommon for a sheltered, mollycoddled young woman (wasn't she 17 or 18 when they started dating?) whose first serious relationship is with a 30 year old manchild. She did seem to mature and redeem herself slightly towards the end of their relationship after she'd gotten to know the real Phil, for example she trolled Phil during his stream a few times and wouldn't put up with his shit during videos.

Not sure if you guys have seen this yet but the intro alone is worth watching.

Nobody is really ready to canonize Leanna, but I can see myself getting at least a bit sympathetic towards a person that was clearly an immature teen and visibly grew up a little (got a job, developed a social circle, stopped being catty/bitchy on social media, etc.). Which culminated with the way Gouty here exposed her health issues for the entire world to see (without her consent) and the mature way she handled out their breakup. By now you've heard DSP complain about how Leanna was being a detriment to his "streaming schedule", and how he misses the maid work she did for him (cooking and cleaning). Her, on the other hand, took the surprisingly mature approach of vanishing from the internet without a single complaint or bad word said about their relationship. You'd be surprised how many supposedly mature people (specially women) in their late 20s-30s can't manage to quit a relationship that quietly, and cause lots of drama via social media.

I mean, I'm way past my late teen years, I can look behind and see that I, too, acted like an immature jackass at the time. Thankfully the internet was a precarious thing back then; I didn't have Youtube to record myself being such a jackass for the posterity.
