Oh God, now "Am I a homebody?"
In discussing why he doesn't want to live in Seattle/a city, Phil addressed the statement that the city has better restaurants. Phil said that there are a few good restaurants, but the pollution, crime, cost of living, etc., are all worse. So, Phil says, you can just drive into the city every so often and just go to the restaurants and then come home. That's what he does.
1. Phil is admitting that he drives into Seattle to eat at restaurants, but has no money.
2. This logic is sound. But it begs the question why he needs to live in an expensive area of an expensive state considering he could be doing exactly the same thing elsewhere, including closer to his parents, for a much lower cost of living.
Phil went on to say he got stir crazy last year. He wants to go out to a restaurant every so often. But he does prefer staying home 'way more than most other people'.
When you're broke, it's crucial that you only leave the house with the express intent of spending extra money on something you could have done at home, but chose to go out for instead. Going for a walk in a park? Fuck that.

Can I just quickly interject with how fucking dumb DSP is with this AC/heat shit? He lives in a house without central air, his biggest problem isn't the heat itself it's that his house has no airflow. Just buy an inexpensive box fan or other fan designed mainly to move air and boom your middle unit condo no longer feels like a hotbox. He could have the AC constantly set to 20 but air just sitting without a fan will always feel stuffy and hotter than it is.
DSP is definitely going to start a new series soon, Sicklier By The Day, my God this man is deteriorating rapidly.

To add to that, it's clear that even in an era where all of the info in the world is literally at your fingertips, Dave has zero curiosity in understanding the world around him, this AC situation is a prime example of that.
Rather than ask himself why his office is 80+ degrees when his AC unit is running full blast (hint: it's cause your fucking door is open, allowing the heat from the rest of your house to roll right in), he goes, "my AC is running full blast I don't get it!" like a literal caveman. This is the oil in the BMW situation all over again.
So clearly he thinks two shitty single room AC units have the capability to remove all of the latent heat energy from his house, right? In that case Dave, just leave your fucking fridge open so that your entire downstairs can be cooled off too, I'm sure that'll work!
I would absolutely not be surprised if he blows up his AC compressor(s) by Monday since it's projected to be 10-15 degrees hotter that day and he's already doing this dumb shit.
