(my apologies if this thread belongs in lolcow. It was kind of a toss up, and if a mod feels like lolcow is the right place for this thread, please go ahead and move it.

After years of whining and bitching about it, Tumblr finally went ahead and threw themselves a con! However, to no one's surprises, it has turned out to be a complete and utter fiasco. Pull up your popcorn folks, Dis gun be gud.
So in a nutshell, the tards who decided to host the con booked a venue but didn't bother to pay for it. At this time, it is believed that the host-tards (these peeps http://dashcon.tumblr.com/tagged/meet-the-admin) thought they accumulated the required amount via ticket sales and...er...something..
Just an FYI because I know it will come up (understandably) the people who threw Dashcon were not actually affiliated with tumblr.
They booked a ton of panels ( Welcome to Night Vale live recording, among others) but paid no one. Many of the panels have been canceled as a result.
Most of the venders have also not shown up, though at the moment no one knows exactly why. Most suspect lack of payment.
When the hotel convention center became angry that they hadn't been paid, they naturally threatened to shut the whole thing down. And then the unthinkable happened. The staff gathered all the con-goers into one giant room and shook them down for cash, 17,000 dollars to be exact.
Unfortunately...this goal was achieved in less than a half an hour.
Here is a picture of the game room. Notice the lack of games.

Also there is a ballpit. You have to book time to play in it because with no pannels, no guests, and no dealers room, there is literally nothing else to do at the con.
