It's like she really believes that all Russian hackers are from the gov over there, and not some bored teenagers who figured out how computers work because they've got too much time on their hands.

And also she seems to think the Russians care who has the Mass 8th district seat, apparently.

Note, every email from Apple uses the name you gave them. I have a number of legitimate emails of this kind, going back years, in various email accounts.

Every single one of them begins

"Dear My Name,"

From Apple's own "how to identify phishing mails for absolute fucking idiots" page

The message starts with a generic greeting, like “Dear valued customer” — most legitimate companies will include your name in their messages to you.

John you absolute fucking ninny.

Now watch John flip the fuck out about mansplaining when someone lets him know this.

And another thing. Apple doesn't email you to let you know someone logged in from a "new browser."

It lets you know when your Apple ID was used to log in from a new DEVICE, such as when you log in to FaceTime or iCloud and it doesn't recognize the device. It uses some sort of proprietary analysis to identify specific computers, then remembers them. This isn't perfect. For instance, it thinks my iPhone is an iPad mini.

The IP is irrelevant, and it doesn't notify you when that changes, or else it would constantly reset whenever you logged in from your iPhone using another cell tower.

Anyway this is way too much thought to put into this, but yes, it is screamingly obvious John got duped by a fake phishing message. I hope he typed a password into it, the dumb motherfucker.

No, your Apple ID is fine, it's just that an iPad mini IS an iPhone.
