This lolcow came up in the TV Tropes community thread, but I thought he deserved a thread of his own. Claiming to be a high school English teacher in his mid 30s living in Nevada, he wrote a colossal monument to weaponised autism called Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons, itself a fanfiction of the abysmal crossover Fallout: Equestria. It exceeds 1 million words, and is full of depraved pony rape. No, I haven't read it, and I'm not going to, either.

Project A.F.T.E.R made a thread on the story, at which point he came to mope about how utterly depressed and hopeless he was, said his story wasn't much good anyway, and then left because his fans had apparently told him the criticism was too much to handle.

He has a Patreon, of course. He doxes himself on it, presuming David Bushey is his real name. He still writes and updates his Patreon, which puts him above Spoony, at least.

So who am I? Well, I'm a bit of a nobody really. Like millions of nobodies out there, I happen to write, and I've been told that I've skill at it. So here I am. Hope I don't disappoint.

So a little more detail. My name is David Bushey, I live in the western United States, Nevada currently, and I'm in my mid thirties. I graduated college with a degree in English Literature and Composition, mostly because I had to graduate before my dad died of ALS and when I took my transcript to the councilor, she took one look at it and went 'Well, this is all over the map. Um... English Lit, probably.' Once I had that, there's only one thing you can do with an English Lit degree: teach! Unfortunately then the bottom fell out of education so I'm fiddling about trying to find what else to do with my life.

So why do I call myself 'Somber'? Well, first there's my writing. It's rarely happy writing. Bad things happen in my stories to characters who don't really deserve what happens to them. Secondly, I have a form of depression called dysthymnia. It's basically chronic, neurological depression. SSRI's just make me stop doing everything, and counseling doesn't help. So I write.

What sorts of things do I write? Well, I tend towards annoyingly large stories. I started publicly writing in 2011, doing My Little Pony fanfics, and I still do. I wrote a spin off story of Fallout Equestria called Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons. It grew to more than 1.78 million words before being completed. People seem to like it though. I'm now working on a sequel called Homelands. I'm hoping it'll be a bit shorter. I tend towards female protagonists overcoming extreme adversity. I also enjoy writing GLBTQ characters, and the complexities they face. I'm a fan of high fantasy stories, urban fantasy, and science fiction. I love a variety of anime, and sometimes the tropes bleed through. While occasionally my writing might get 'spicy' I generally don't write explicit, pornographic materials. Nothing worse than what you'd read in Game of Thrones, I suppose.

So that's me in a nutshell. Thanks for reading this and supporting me. It's really all that keeps me going at times.

To be fair, I would expect the man who wrote an autistically long fanfiction of a fanfiction about cartoon ponies mutilating, raping, and killing each other to be "manically depressed."

So, this is an old thread but I felt the need to post in it.

In Junior year of high school (I go to college in a completely different area now), I had Bushey as a substitute teacher. It was a class where we did nothing, so we just started talking to him and that turned into a Q&A period. We asked him his thoughts on general issues before it got to more specific personal questions. Did he play sports, how was his life growing up, so on, the answers were pretty reflective of his Patreon posts. A kid asked him what he did in his free time, and Bushey said he writes. We asked him what he writes, and with no shame responded with fanfiction. The kid sarcastically replied with "Like what? My Little Pony fanfiction?". Bushey refused to share the name of his fanfiction as it contained "adult content not suitable for the classroom" (depraved pony rape), and classmates hounded him for it. Kids started spewing out random names, but none of them were right.

I was the one who found it later that night, because he named the website and the word count of his novel, and you can sort novels by word count on there. I confirmed it was him and sent another one of his projects, the Fifty Shades of Gray fanfiction, to a few friends. The next morning I had a class with a lot of the kids who had Bushey, so I went in early and wrote the name of the fanfiction and his username on the board. Teacher made me explain in front of the class what I had written and the importance of it. Pretty soon the school got word and multiple teachers talked to administration about firing the sub "who talked about pony porn with his students". One of his blog posts said it was because he "promoted the legalization of marijuana", but that's not the truth whatsoever.
